The Musical Instrument Thread

We played our summer garage party last night.

It was a pretty good time.
The first 2 sets went well with no significant blunders.
The third set got a little sloppy though. We started at 11:30, which we thought was going to have the cops there within a song or two, so we were rushing, and a little distracted. We had a hard time ending songs that set. We finished at about 12:20 or so. No cops, so we must not have been that bad.

Oh.
The picture.
An old rock and roller shouldn't find itself in the landfill.
One should die proudly when it is no longer possible to live proudly. - Friedrich Nietzsche
That was my $30 first acoustic that had delaminated over the years. I patched it up enough, that people thought it was still good. I took it out, then said that it was too much work to tune it and set it in the fire. The reactions were pretty good.

Are you wearing Vans? Did you ride your skateboard to the party?
They are! I'm also wearing Dr Scholl's socks for diabetics and circulatory comfort. Crazy comfortable socks for an aging has-been (never-was) trying to relive a little of the glory of his non-glorious youth. People still say that they love em. (The shoes, the socks look so good you'd never know they were for diabetics!)

That burning guitar photo is pretty epic.
Once people got over the shock, someone on the other side of the fire told me to do the Hendrix thing while you could still tell it was a guitar, but the flames were too tall and hot, so I asked if a Townshend windmill would work instead. That picture didn't come out. I didn't know someone behind me took a pic too, and it wouldn't have been that cool if you tried to set it up. There's an unintentional London Calling vibe to it.

It's truly a one-in-a-million perfect capture. Many of the great photos are, like the famous one of the sailor kissing the nurse at the end of World War II.

Plus, the guy on the Clash album cover is also wearing Vans, so there's that angle too.

Indeed. The whole exchange lasted for 10 or 15 seconds. And that included me whimpering about not wanting to melt my eyebrows or shirt. (100% polyester.)
I never noticed he was wearing vans. How about that?

New pickguard on the acoustic. Sweet. No turtles were killed in the making of this pickguard, unless a delivery truck ran one over on the highway.

It's shiny!
How did you get the other one off cleanly?

Did you singe your chest hair? Do you have chest hair?

What's especially weird is that Vans didn't come out until the mid-80s. So, I'm guessing time travel.

At any rate, it's truly epic, and you should frame it for your music room, as soon as you Swiffer in there.

Yeah, it's nice. The other one just pulled off. The adhesive was very gummy and it just rolled off in little booger-like balls.

Still have the same 5 as before.

I think he's wearing combat boots in that pic.

Ahhhhhhfuckingswifferrrrr.......
I wanted to like that post twice, dammit.

Now that the wedding shoot, party, and art thing are over, I can break out the swiffer and put my junk....er......studio back together. It's a wreck. Cables, and equipment scattered everywhere with photo mats and framing stuff mixed in. I haven't played a guitar in a week, and I'm getting antsy.

Same here, haven't touched the guitar since last weekend. I'll have a go at it today. I saw Justin's video lesson for Pinball Wizard, I might try that among a few others.
