The people upset about the joke are drawing false conclusions about the wording and intent of the actual joke. So yeah, it's pretty ridiculous.

Nope. Giggling at sexual orientation isn't just dumb, it's harmful. There's nothing funny (to me) about being born into a persecuted minority.

You're doing just what I stated - you're misrepresenting the joke. It's not mocking gender identity, it's mocking the number 37. There are many who only acknowledge 2 gender identities; if you're going to have a problem with someone, it should be them, not Colin Jost.

The joke is too simple to misrepresent. The number 37 isn't being mocked. Substitute race for orientation and the number 37 doesn't make the joke funny.

I thought the joke was about the Democrats. The reaction to the joke kind of proves the joke.
Katie was home for Thanksgiving.
They just opened a Dave and Busters here. We wandered in to check it out, grab a drink and a bite to eat, and check the joint out. Walked by a cluster of people on the way to our table. It turns out that it was Katie and her friends. I didn't realize it was her until someone told us a little later. They were gone by the time we were done eating and ready to check out the game room.
It would have been cooler if I had actually noticed it was her when I walked by, or even better if we would have talked for a couple of minutes. A couple games of ski-ball would have been too much for the poor girl to handle.
next thing you know you're getting a divorce because your want you kid to go to some weird cult school and she won't stand for any of that nonsense.
