I was running some errands today and saw this a stack of mattress on a sedan.

Holy shit that's fantastic! It's like that pic Scotch posted of that insanely overstuffed van or pickup but this one you witnessed for real in the wild.

Driving home from work one day last week there was a tow truck towing a mid sized UHaul. The back was open and it was filled with those wooden pallets. Since it was being towed the back was at a downward facing angle and as far as I could tell those pallets were not tied down. It's a wonder they didn't spill out. I got away from the thing asap.

That's good to know. There was a time in the 90s when I look for pho in other cities and couldn't find it.

My point was that isn't a joke image. It's a real place.
I count 13 Vietnamese joints in the city adjacent to my workplace. None of them have funny names; we have Chinese for that.

That's fantastic. Do any of them do a good banh mi?

Houston was a major relocation center for Vietnamese refugees in the 1970s. In the 80s all the cool kids went to Kim Son after the bars closed. Now there are over 400 Vietnamese restaurants here.

The Phoenix area has quite a few Long Wong's and I have seen WaBa Grill. They might not sound funny to anybody but to they do.

For some reason, I could picture WaBa Grill doing the wazzup phrase when you walk in they could say "Welcome to WaaaBaaa".

If you asked me about Vietnamese or Thai restaurants over 25 years ago, I'd be able to tell you, when we frequented them. But then they installed the badge reader system at our facility, and so us 30-somethings stopped going out for lunch. My daughter's college occupies both sides of the river on that map; she'd know much better than I. I'm just trying to keep up with seafood restaurants back home.

BTW, 400 is a lot.

It's been awhile since I've been up early enough to see the Duck of the Day before it gets lost in my timeline.
