Good coverage again by NBC. I watched from 1:30pm til the end. I hope they keep the coverage contract.
And the negotiations to push The Preakness back an extra week happens.

I think I'll just stay here and watch Game 7 76's and Celtics

I turned it on about 45 minutes before the race, and I still had to resist the urge to bail. I'm not a fan of extended pre-race coverage.

Even with the F1 coverage on Apple TV now, the coverage starts like 2 hours before the action begins. I skip it all except for about 10 minutes.

But if you're a horse racing fan, I'm glad you like it.

It's about the same proportion of coverage as the superbowl. A 2 minute race gets about 9 hours. A 3 hour game gets 2 weeks.

Thanks, I started early because I was also interested in the Pat Day Mile, I call it the horses NIT (like the other post season college basketball tournament) which was shown around 2:15pm and some other Turf races had Derby qualifiers who passed on the Derby to run the Turf races, But mostly I was interested in watching the people and the main card analysis.

My final thoughts after seeing the replay of the race: Golden Tempo and Ocelli were dead last stuck with my horse Albus (who got boxed out at the start, too slow and couldn't recover). But Golden Tempo and Ocelli made moves going from the outside and had the clearance and speed to make up all that ground.
Unlike Rich Strike in 2022 who came from the back and used the inside rail and squeezed by to win it at 80-1. Ocelli almost pulled off a Rich Strike. An alternate entry at 70-1 and finishing 3rd. Still a good pay day for anyone who had a chance to make a wager on him. Chief Wallabee, 4th, tried to win by going to the inside rail but was squeezed in the middle of the pack and made the move too late. Renegade, the real favorite, survived the inside post squeeze of the horses posted at 1-4 at the start of the race unlike Albus and was still able to finish 2nd.

So Happy was a surprise co favorite. Many believe due to the trainer's wife passing recently as a human-interest story, but I got to believe some was due to respect for winning the Santa Anita Derby, a race Journalism won last year and went in as the favorite for the Derby and won the Preakness.

You got to feel bad for the Great White people, coming to Lexington in hopes that a scratch would get them in the race, they get into the race after Silent Tactic has to bow out, and their horse flips over at the starting gate entry and has to be scratched.

The aerial view replay is great. Like what JHDK says about Prime Video's aerial view of Thursday night football. You really get to see how the race is forming out.

Now we see if Golden Tempo goes to the Preakness and maybe runs against the likes of The Puma or Silent Tactic and some of the winners of the day's undercard.

Yeah, watching the replay of the race, it was pretty crazy how Golden Tempo came from dead last, and along with that other horse, ended up passing everybody. My pick, Six Speed, was the early pacesetter, which was fun.
