"Kia" isn't even a Korean word. The name combines the Chinese verb ki, meaning "to arise; to come up out of," with the letter "A" for Asia. Kia loosely means "comes from Asia." In Korean, "piece of shit" is 똥 조각, pronounced "tōng chō gäg." Jon, I'm glad I could clarify this for you.

It's as if Cliff Clavin and Dwight Schrute had a kid together.

I think your translation is off a bit.
ki = comes out of
A = the ass.

Several updates. First last Sunday she wound up admitted to hospital. The nausea would not stop. She did not see her oncologist yet since she picked the week he was on vacation. But he had ordered a full CT scan which she had done the prior Friday and sent referal to Princess Margret Hospital (once of the top 5 cancer hospitals in the world) for a radiation consult. She was discharged this morning and her consult was this morning. I was able to go with as her attendant as she is not really able to do a lot of this stuff on her own. She will start radiation on Monday. 5 days short bursts whole brain. The doctor expects this to knock the tumor back for another 9-12 months. A second round of chemo would be hard on her as the effects are cumulative and also would not be as effective. Without treatment we are looking at 3 months. If she last 12 months or longer and then it starts growing, she can have a second dose of radiation with likely somewhat less effectiveness (cancer is resilient). There is no possibility of a third dose. Once it grows, its 3 months.

This update was from 2021/10/01. She has been having MRIs every 3 months roughly since then. In December (14 months after radiation treatment) the MRI was clear (no growth). She was due for her next in March. She was having some weird symptoms so she asked me to ask the Dr. to advance the MRI. He did that. We spent the morning of Valenties Day doing her next MRI. Last Friday they called back and booked a second for Saturday morning. Well yesterday we found out she had been refereed back to Princess Margrett. Had her consult there this afternoon.

The good news is she does not have any new growth in the brain. The bad news, however, is she has a 2cm tumor in her left eye socket. If left unchecked it would push her eyeball out. They are going to blast it with directed radiation 10 times over 2 weeks. This will not preclude her having another whole brain radiation which is what we were expecting the minute we found out about the referral. Treatment should start within the next week.

That sounds scary. Will the radiation completely eradicate the tumor? And will her vision be affected? I am praying for you both.

It should dissipate the tumor. The most probable side effect will be dry eye. She may need drops for an unspecified time after. Loss of vision is possible but highly improbable by the odds.

She did her last treatment yesterday. It was successful. This tumour is toasted. They are going to do a PET scan on Monday to see if the cancer is anywhere else. A precaution but a wise one.

I am off to Saskatchewan tomorrow for a week. My dad will be celebrating his 90s birthday. The guy doesn't act a day over 70. Still living on his own and maintaining a cabin as well as a condo.
