Oh, also I've seen one Nascar race at the NH International Speedway (the magic mile), and I also saw an Indycar series (open-wheel cars like F1) race there too. Nascar is pretty big in NH.

Oops. The viewers left, his right shoulder.
So I have to wait till I'm back on my home-office computer. Great.

It's not, but I learned a long time ago that declaring oneself to be "too smart for Nascar, too dumb for opera" at parties doesn't always go over well.

If you know someone who wants to go to a major racing event in your state, you go.

Yes, Daytona is a huge, high-speed tri-oval. It's also the premier opening race of the season. There's also an Indycar race in St. Pete. And... drum roll... Formula 1 is coming to Miami in a year.

A couple of weeks ago, the week that would have been our vacation, my wife got a call to come to Princess Margaret Hospital for a consult. We had no idea it was pending. I think it was asked for in the flurry of activity last spring/summer. Princess Margaret is Canada's premier Cancer hospital. Anyways this doctor wants to do radiation on my wife's brain. A preventative sweep. My wife is unsure. I am dead against it (but I don't really get a say). One of the other doctors had said there is risk of dementia made worse by an existing brain injury (the car accident from 2017 is an existing brain injury). He did not recommend. The MRI he was looking at (most recent at the time) was completely clear so this is not an attempt to control growth. In theory it is supposed to delay growth. My wife wants to chat with her cancer doctor before making any determination. She had another MRI last week and will see that doctor in April.

This was the last post I had about my wife's cancer so I am quoting it. She has had a couple MRIs since then. The one specified above was no change as was the one in June. She had another done last week. She was feeling really nauseous for several days so on Tuesday we went to the ER. They did a whole wack of tests and reviewed the MRI. It turns out there is growth. Not only growth but a new spot which cannot be identified. This caused swelling which caused nausea. I never would have connected the two. We are waiting for callback from oncologist as to next options but not sure if there will be any good ones.

And if it hasn't been said enough: FUCK CANCER.

Several updates. First last Sunday she wound up admitted to hospital. The nausea would not stop. She did not see her oncologist yet since she picked the week he was on vacation. But he had ordered a full CT scan which she had done the prior Friday and sent referal to Princess Margret Hospital (once of the top 5 cancer hospitals in the world) for a radiation consult. She was discharged this morning and her consult was this morning. I was able to go with as her attendant as she is not really able to do a lot of this stuff on her own. She will start radiation on Monday. 5 days short bursts whole brain. The doctor expects this to knock the tumor back for another 9-12 months. A second round of chemo would be hard on her as the effects are cumulative and also would not be as effective. Without treatment we are looking at 3 months. If she last 12 months or longer and then it starts growing, she can have a second dose of radiation with likely somewhat less effectiveness (cancer is resilient). There is no possibility of a third dose. Once it grows, its 3 months.

We can pray for her– and if there was anything else we could do, IRBS, you know we would do it. I lost a grandfather to cancer. I donate to the American Cancer Society in the hope that someday a cure will be found. In 1910, President Taft visited Gratwick Laboratory (now Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center) in Buffalo, New York and declared, “Within five years, cancer will have been removed from the list of fatal maladies.” One hundred eleven years later and we're still waiting and hoping.

The radiation is done. It has taken a lot out of her on day of burst but next morning she is back to new normal. Last night we stayed at a ritzy downtown hotel as a celebration of this being her last day. It was nice although she slept most of the evening. Picked up a Red Lobster feast for supper.

We are now 4 weeks after radiation. From this past Sunday she is bed ridden. She has some PSWs and nurses coming to take care of her regularly. According to Dr. Google (the radiation doctor did not prepare us for this) there is a period of about 6 weeks after radiation where this type of reaction is common. I am hoping that is accurate and we only have 2 more weeks. We also have planned to see a football game tommorow as well as a night to see "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" on Sunday. She is stubborn and says she will do them.
