The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner of the City of New York has determined that Donike Gocaj, the woman who fell into an open manhole, died of "scald burns with inhalational thermal injury and blunt force trauma of torso." What is in the sewer system that could cause "scald burns"? Maybe I don't want to know.

I get how this may be a controversial take but I would argue that if your job is working at a bungee jumping place one of your top priorities should probably be to make sure the bungee cord is attached at both ends.

The Mrs showed me the video clip earlier today. I thought that it was a fake at first.

IDK what Brazil's version of manslaughter and criminal negligence is, but they 100% deserve the maximum penalty for whatever Brazil has on the books for that.

But you're 100% right Hectic. I've never bungee jumped but I've been on a million roller coasters and I don't just trust the dude to come and check my shoulder bars or lap bar or whatever. I'm always pulling on it and making sure it's secure before the ride starts. And if I could pull on it and it just opened up I would start screaming like an idiot before the ride took off. So not to blame the victim or whatever but it's a little bit on her too. 98% on those employees because their job is to account for those things. It's not the paying customer's job even though it's really dumb for her to not make sure that at least her feet were attached before she let three dudes pick her up and throw her off a cliff.

I would imagine that if you are going to do such things, that you may be terrified which is not a good mindset to be always acting in the most rational way and doing all those checks. Presumably that is why you are paying someone rather than just bringing your own cord.
 
Yea, I would probably scream like a girl.


This happened to me years ago. One night, I got out of bed and went to the bathroom. When I looked in the mirror, I realized there was a scorpion on me. It totally freaked me out.
