Atari is a bit before my time but I can get down with some NES and SNES classics all day!

I’ll have to check that out.
There is another emulator called Mame that a friend of mine helped create. It’s got the classic arcade games. I hadn’t thought about that for years. I assume it’s still around.

DUDE!!! Mame is super famous. It is one of the many emulators that run on the Chinese handheld devices that keep coming out. I have a couple and constantly watch videos about the new ones on the market.

Lots of these Chinese Handhelds can run everything up to and including PS1. N64 and Dreamcast still seem beyond their reach at this point. Now if you have a good enough Android phone it doesn't really matter because they will run but if you want a dedicated handheld the wait continues for near perfect N64 and Dreamcast emulation.

My buddy was one of the founders. (If that's the right term for them.)
He had the motherboards for a LOT of arcade games on shelves in his workroom. He had one full size upright video game console with a PC in it. He could pull up any of the games. It was pretty cool.
The guy is crazy smart.

I have more Switch games than I know what to do with but that isn't stopping me from a fun little project today. I'm turning my phone into an emulation machine. So far I've started with N64 and I intend to add GBA and Dreamcast. I bought a controller from a brand everyone seems to like (8bitdo) and I have experience with their products in the past that worked out well. Also got a clip for the controller that attaches the phone to it to make it easily portable. The older games, up to N64 are easy to put on there. The newer games use ISO's and I'm not exactly sure how they are different from ROMS so I'll be figuring that out today.

I started playing some video games last year after a long time. But I'm not very good especially with new stuff. I started with Uno and Tetris on the TV.
Then I switched to BubbleStrike but was getting addicted. Then I went BubbleJam got to level 6. This year I've been playing Letter Sensei. I've gotten to 306,728 on the Easy level, 265,128 on the Medium level and 247,390 on the Hard level.

I also pulled out my old GameBoy and played a few of those games. I've been meaning to dig out and set up my old GameCube in the basement and set up down there. Not sure if it even still works.

You’re the coolest retired person ever. Or at least of people I know.

Thanks. I think you are pretty cool too.
Wishing you well with your schedule. I know what it is like to go to the office sometimes for 10-12 hours a day and still bring work home.
It's nice to be out now and posting here instead.

There is one game I played at the hotel when we went the Admiral hockey game that I wanted to play at home in the PlayWorks system. But I do not seem to have it in my selection menu. It was these blocks of colored numbers, 1-40. Then you would shoot the blocks, if it was a 1, the block would disappear. The bigger the number the more shots you needed to take to get rid of the block. Then you would have these enhancers in the block fields which would increase and energize your shooting dots for more points. It was a lot of fun but I don't know the name of it.

I'm going to have to find some stuff to do.
Right now, when I have a day off, I have zero motivation to do anything.
That will not do me well during retirement.

@Madison, does your wife still work?
She works part time with the city. And works as a card dealer on some fall/winter weekends for companies that are holding their work appreciation parties. She also volunteers for a lot of activities which leaves the house to all to me. But sometimes I will help her with set ups and such. I might have to miss some of my games for the basketball madness this weekend. I might have to judge the Oratorical contest on Saturday, and her kid's basketball skills competition was cancelled last Sunday with the weather so she will have it this Sunday and I will help her set up. I don't think I can run two different streaming sites at the same time on my phone

I don't have the option of not doing anything. For one, if I'm available, I'm doing the daily hike with the Mrs. and the dogs. And then we're either going somewhere, or doing some work around the house or yard. Of course, in the warmer months, there's the beach and/or paddling or biking. About the closest to doing nothing is sitting on the front porch, listening to the birds, maybe having a drink, and maybe having a smoke.

I sometimes help the Mrs. with whatever volunteer thing she's doing for the Land Trust. And of course I help with the dog walking and pet sitting. We do still watch a lot of TV (especially compared to, say, sadchild). But it's generally only on after dinner, with the exception of the F1 weekends. And even then, it's like an hour on Saturday, and a little more on Sunday.

The community band keeps me occupied too, along with various doctor appointments.

I shouldn't have the option, but I apply myself and make it (not) happen.
or doing some work around the house or yard.
I need to get back into that habit.
there's the beach
We have beaches, but they don't draw the same kind of crowds, and I'm not much of a water guy anyway.
maybe having a drink,
I could do some more of that again.
I sometimes help the Mrs. with whatever volunteer
Mine doesn't volunteer.
I help with the dog walking and pet sitting.
No pets. I don't want to deal with feces or walks in the snow and rain.
We do still watch a lot of TV
I have nearly perfected this activity.
The community band keeps me occupied too,
I do have that, but get worried that playing guitar will become more difficult as I age.
along with various doctor appointments.
I suppose that I've got more of that in my future.

Side-note; my Dr for the last 30 years or so is getting close to retiring, so they brought in a new younger doc to take over in the next year or so.
He's barely 30, which is kinda weird, but I like it. I wanted a new Dr that wouldn't retire before I croak, so this should work out well.

OK, so you have no kids, no pets. So you could just take a day-trip at any time, or even travel further, and do a real getaway. Or you can become like IRBS, and go to a concert or game every week.

Do you know how much planning is involved with any away-time we want to take? If we didn't have the pets, we'd be doing at least 3 vacations a year. And spending full days and weekends away.

I got a doctor when we moved up here; and 2 years ago, he retired. I actually still see him every so often, because he golfs with the doctors next door. Anyway, the replacement guy is cool. He's maybe 40, and has young kids. They also vacation in Costa Rica.
