As opposed to what?

Don't know what you mean by that? That theme was created last Halloween. All the nominees were pretty much suggested and ready to go. Unfortunately, I got sidetracked and went M.I.A. last year. Now I just want to finish the theme.

Seriously though, have we done Movie Soundtracks yet? That could be an Idea for #39

We haven't done that theme yet. I'll keep that in mind.

For Movie soundtracks, the film Footloose wasn't great. But it does have a great soundtrack. My personally favorite is the Top Gun soundtrack.

The music of "Footloose" (1984 edition) was great so it should be included. There was a remake which can be included but I am not suggesting nor would I vote for.

ETA: I thought this was the nomination thread. I made my nomination in the proper thread.

Sorry for the long post. This has been on my mind for a while.

For the past few months, we have been having quite a bit of madness. Plus, I'm finally getting around recreating some old spreadsheets that got lost or corrupted a couple of years ago. Which I moved files around online, thumb drives and an old f'ed up computer. For me it's sort of fun going down memory lane with the old madness and how much work I had to put into it. Now my new excel spreadsheet layout with formulas making these easier and there were some old madnesses which I screwed up on the voting results and change the outcome on a couple like Actors & Actresses. Along with Automobiles, but I'm not going to reintroduce a new winner. I plan on posting the new PDF's sometime soon on my website on the madness page. Also, I'm doing away with mini-madness. Which I will incorporate and renumber "Best Beatles Album" probably as Madness #39?

I'm still debating if "Fictional Horror Movie Characters" might happen. I don't know if there are many horror fans like me on here. We could replace it with something better like another music theme? Going over couple madness, I think one category needs to be redeemed itself and that is "Comedy" between the SNL and Comedy Teams. There were only 17 cast members mentioned and quite a few more SNL actors that could have been mentioned and/or participated in the tournament. Especially like John Belushi which was getting mixed up with Jim Belushi and probably more sketches could been mentioned. Also, in the "Comedy Teams" madness some never made it to the tournament which were mentioned when the 1st round got started. One duo, who never participated could been a contender "Steve Martin & Martin Short" and I mixed up Second City TV with Second City?

Just to be clear: by "Second City", are we referring to SCTV (Second City Television), the scripted Canadian late-night show with John Candy, Rick Moranis, Catherine O'Hara etc.? Or are we referring to the Second City comedy troupe, the Chicago-based stage performers? Because There's also The Groundlings, another comedy troupe. However, there are hundreds or thousands of members of those. So I'm assuming it's SCTV.

Drc Madness #18: Saturday Night Live
DRC Madness #25: Comedy Teams

I was thinking of doing away with "Fictional Horror Movie Characters" and having a few different brackets for Battle of Comedy. Like possible redoing comedy teams, SNL cast and sketches with possibly mixing it up with In Living Color, Mad TV and whatever old famous comedy shows that were out there. Maybe another bracket for famous comedians like Gabriel Iglesias, Dave Chappelle, Jerry Seinfeld, Rodney Dangerfield, Chris Hart, Gallagher and so on.

What are your guys’ thoughts, opinion and I still have a list of old madness theme suggestions, which can happen next year?

I am ok with whatever you put forth. But I would likely pass on Beatles albums. Not my thing.
We're not redoing the best Beatles album. It was originally named as Mini-Madness #1. I'll probably have it renamed as Madness #38: Best Beatles Album and skip it, which we already completed that. Introduce #39 as something else? I'm not filling the "Fictional Horror Movie Characters" theme nor kind of want to do it now. Plus, I think Channel98 might want to do some future music theme he suggested.

"Gee, Ollie, I think doing a comedy teams Madness is a swell idea." "It soitenly is, Stanley!"

I would nominate Laurel & Hardy, Abbott & Costello, Burns & Schreiber, Burns & Allen, Hope & Crosby, Stiller & Meara, Smith & Dale, Morecambe & Wise, Cheech & Chong, Key & Peele, Rowan & Martin, Wayne & Schuster (who I believe made more than 5,000 appearences on The Ed Sullivan Show), Wheeler & Woolsey, the Marx Brothers, the Ritz Brothers, the Smothers Brothers and the Three Stooges.

We could vote on the best songs from musicals – not old rock songs thrown into a movie for no other reason other than the producers were able to get them for a low fee but songs written specifically for the musical, such as Cabaret, Camelot, Easter Parade, True Love, A Hard-Knock Life, I Remember It Well, If I Were A Rich Man, Ballad Of Easy Rider, Everything's Coming Up Roses, Chim Chim Cheree, My Favorite Things, Getting To Know You, Get Me To The Church On Time and Belly Up To The Bar, Boys.

I love horror films, but it might just be me, Wolf, and maybe Hectic?
We all like music, if there’s a category or theme we have not done yet.

If enough people are into it. Then maybe that madness game might happen. I don't plan on creating any more future mini-madness games. Just stick to the main one. I agree we all like music, if we do another music theme. I kind of don't want to run it for now. I prefer doing other themes beside music.

Ooh! Ooh! (Said in my very best Arnold Horshack voice.) How about voting on the best instrumentals? This will refresh your memory:

1920s: Whispering, Hot Lips, Muskrat Ramble
1930s: Nola, Moon Glow, Moonlight Serenade
1940s: Jersey Bounce, Take The 'A' Train, At The Woodchoppers Ball
1950s: Tequila, Lisbon Antigua, Cherry Pink & Apple Blossom White
1960s: Because They're Young, Love Is Blue, Stranger On The Shore
1970s: Rise, Feels So Good, Star Wars Theme/Cantina Band
1980s: Chariots Of Fire, Miami Vice Theme, Hooked On Classics
1990s: Children, Lily Was Here, Going Home

I'll have to stop there. In the 2000s, Darude's Sandstorm was the only instrumental to make the Hot 100.

I see what you did there. One of my favorite instrumentals is Velvet Waters by the Megatrons, a group of New York studio musicians led by John Summers. The song was written by William Plunkett and reached #51 on the June 29 1959 Hot 100. Haywood Henry (real name: Frank Haywood Henry) is the clarinetist. The Megatrons released three more singles. None charted.

Fifth! I mean, Whatever you feel like doing Wolf, whenever you feel like doing it.
Do it because you're having fun doing it, not because you think that you have to.
But I would likely pass on Beatles albums. Not my thing.
Beatles albums are my thing baby, but I thought that we already did Beatles albums.
I love horror films, but it might just be me, Wolf, and maybe Hectic?

I'll play along with just about whatever. Smith's songs and country music aren't ones that I'd be into, but do what you like.

The Beatles' Anthology 4 will be released November 21. We'll have to do the Beatles Album Madness all over again so we can include it.

I'll do that once Céline Dion becomes IRBS Canadian prime minister.
