I was in university in Regina, SK. This summer I took a summer course. Some of my friends were on a co-op program and they were in school this term. I did not do co-op but since this summer I had a job from the university (Geology Department) I did a class that they were also doing. I remember this was a good year for having fun with my friends. I did really enjoy my university years.

This summer (I think a bit earlier in the year) was the second of the 3 times in my life I got too drunk. I have been drunk countless times but I developed a skill of knowing when my last safe dink was. This time however I had not developed that skill yet nor did I care. I was celebrating the end of a good semester in school. I had taken my last exam and done well. So my friends and I went to the local watering hole and started drinking. I did rye and cokes (that was my drink then. I hadn't discovered that there were alcohols which tasted good and after the first couple I could no longer taste the rye). We also did shots. We did several but the one I remember was a B-52. I guess I was getting loud and obnoxious (I remember putting a glass down and misjudging where a table was and shattering the glass). The waitress politely suggested that we leave. I stood up. I discovered then that standing up after sitting a long time drinking kind of triples the effect of the alcohol rather instantly. So I was on the ground. My friends carried me out. Like flat on my back one guy on each arm and like type carried.

I don't remember much after that. I know they helped me get home and go to the washroom to pee and then puke. I woke up the next morning on my bed fully dressed with a hangover from hell. But worth it. Good times.

I was in high school…….thinking about finishing on Koop's mom’s boobs.

If you were ever so lucky to see my mom's knockers (they were pretty huge) it would have been the best day of your life and I would expect you to also have been a gentleman who did whatever on wherever she told you.

She'd be your Stacy's Mom.

I had just finished my junior year at Stevens, and I was probably back working at my dad's shop in Madison, NJ. I was probably with my ex, and I had the Corvette to drive around in. At this point, the plan was to do my last year of college, and then go into the business with my dad. But my mom was hatching her own plan, wherein my brother would continue to work for my dad. And then I'd get a job somewhere outside of NJ, and leave the ex behind. Of course, how it ended up was a bit different than either of those.

I've mentioned my best friend from college, and how we'd go on camp resort vacations every summer. This summer it was in the Poconos area of Pennsylvania. We did amusement parks and some hiking, but mostly drank.

For every one of these vacations, we'd pick an alcohol to abuse. On the 1st one, where we tried to bike to the Jersey shore, it was bourbon; as that was my go-to at the time. I swore-off bourbon after that (for many years at least). For the 2nd vacation in Lake George, we brought up cases of our favorite beers: Hacker-Pschorr Brau Weissbier, and Krakus from Poland. Of course, we drank too much.

And for this vacation in the Poconos, we decided on vodka, because we thought it was a "safer" alcohol. But my college friend was going through turmoil, because his longtime on-again off-again girlfriend was in a serious relationship with another guy. One night, I ended up saving his life, because he drank so much, he was passed-out vomiting. I haven't liked vodka since then.

July 1990 I was 15, and probably working toward my driver's license. Learned how to drive off an old 1987 K5-Blazer manual transmission that was a tank to shift. The reason I can drive a stick shift today despite the fact that I haven't in a while. At the time I was also attending an "Alternative" high school which would be shut down not long after, and moved to a much larger high school in the area. Also about the time I quit high school and got my GED, The ramifications of which are still relevant to this day.

I'd been dating my will-be-wife for almost a year. She was about to graduate high school and head to college.

I was jamming with a friend (also my room mate) writing heavy metal songs. We wanted to call the band Inevitable Demise \m/ \m/. That band never actually formed and our songs never made it back 4-track recording demos. A couple years later we joined another existing band instead.

I started a new job driving a vending route. I brought sandwiches to convenience stores. The company was named Double Q. This is the only thing on the internet I could find that proves the company ever existed.

This is the 3rd date from the summer of 1990. I attach my previous stories.

1990/08/07

These dates are rather close. However, sometime in the summer of 1990 a friend of mine and I did a trip to NYC. We were there an extended week (1 week + 2 weekends) So I will pretend it was the above date.

We did all the usual sites. We saw a Yankees game and a Mets game. We saw an Eric Clapton concert in Long Island. We endured the Statue of Liberty. We tried to see Letterman. We didn't get reservations but they take overflow. We got number 51 and 52 by lining up at 8AM. When we came back at 4PM they took 10.

On the day we did the statue of liberty, it was really really hot and humid. And we were trying to navigate the subway and on the map it looks like 2 lines intersected at a certain station. In fact the lines cross but they do not connect. Eventually we planned a different route. It was late we found a nice italian restaurant. It was late after 8PM (it was a long day). We placed our order and brought out the maps and started to plan our next day. At some time later the waiter came back and says how was everything. We look at each other and say we didn't know we hadn't got anything yet. I guess he had forgotten to either get the order or place the order. We got it some time later and it was delicious. When we got the bill he had already added 15% gratuity. There was a spot to add more and I wrote "included" on it. I got the biggest glare I got the whole week. I think it was one of the famous New York glares.

It was a great trip. My friend got a steady girlfriend the next year so our yearly vacations stopped. I have lost touch with him over time. He did not move with the times. He does/did not own a home computer. He felt that since he worked with them during the day he didn't need one at night. He also does not believe in social media. He still lives in Regina, SK as far as I know.

Still playing catch-up here

From my 'diary'...

10/24 it hit 32 for the first time (since last winter/spring) this morning. this is the 2nd-latest day for it to drop to 32 in recorded history. the record is oct 25 back in 1921.

In other words, it took a long time that year for it to hit a freezing temp. Usually it gets down to 32 degrees well before Oct 24th.

My average day around this time involved one or more of these things: stacking wood, playing tennis (indoors by now), taking my son to robotics competitions, helping my mother-in-law care for my father-in-law (2 years after spinal cord injury), band practice with new singer Rachel.

It was around this time I got my 2nd covid shot. I was later than most people who decided to get it.

More catching up

I don't have notes on New Years Eve 12/13/2004, but 1/1/2005 is when I started my diaries.

Jan 1 had a gig on New Year's night with my metal band Hostile Witness
Jan 2 Went to dinner with a high school friend - he told me he's engaged (they're now separated)
Jan 3 Toured Concord Hospital to see if that's where we wanted to have my son delivered (we chose a hospital in Manchester NH instead)
Jan 5 in the studio recording with the metal band (we never released any music despite 3 studio attempts)
Jan 14 heard the baby's heartbeat at a midwife appointment
Jan 15 took out the closet in the master bedroom to make more room (my house has very small rooms)

I propose that if the date chosen by the randomizer is within +/- 3 months of a previous date it be discarded and reentered. Until we have no such gaps left.
