Although my digital camera archives didn't start until 2002, we had the Hi-8 video camera, and that got used in 2001. I don't have anything specifically for that day; but a month prior, I took delivery of my first new BMW that I ordered from the factory. It turned out to be the most problematic BMW I've owned. In fact, on 9/11, I had to (once again) leave it at the shop, and I got a ride into work from a coworker friend. So when we got in, a plane had already hit the 1st tower, and we were just catching-up.
Anyway, back to the target date. A month after the date, on June 15th, we did a weekend in Point Sebago. We started going there 2 years earlier, for a week each summer. But this time, the kids had summer camp, so we just did the late spring weekend. I think we did Point Sebago a total of 5 times. It's on Sebago lake in Maine, and it's an enclosed 700 acre camp-resort site. You can bring a trailer, or rent one of theirs of various sizes, or rent a cottage. And the place had it's own village, with a center where you can get lunch, a general store, and several pavilions for dining, entertainment, and arts and crafts. Camp counselors from all over the world spend the summer, and run the activities for kids of various age groups. Meanwhile, the parents can sit on the beach and drink.
The kids could learn how to canoe or kayak, or play sports, or make pottery. And from 3-5 pm everyday, the entertainment pavilion had happy hour with live performers. And they had shows at night too. Most of the families who went to Point Sebago would come the same week each year, and then the kids and parents would all become friends. It was great for a few years, when the kids were young.
