Alice Drummond, born Alice Ruyter in 1928 in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Pembroke College in 1950. (In 1971, the women's college merged with Brown University, which is co-ed.)
Drummond appeared in several Broadway and off-Broadway plays including Lysistrata, Boy Meets Girl, Marvin's Room, The American Dream, The Ballad Of The Sad Café and You Can't Take It With You. Drummond appeared in multiple episodes of the television series Dark Shadows, One Life To Live, Where The Heart Is, Ryan's Hope and Lenny and in 48 movies and TV movies including Eyewitness, Jeffrey, Thieves, Nobody's Fool, Hide In Plain Sight, King Of The Gypsies, The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas and To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything! Two of Drummond's best-known roles are as Alice, a librarian frightened by a poltergeist in Ghostbusters (1984), and Ray Finkle's eccentric mother in Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994). Drummond died in 2016. She was 88.
