Congratulations, Hectic!
This week's subject was Betty Aberlin, the actress who entertained our pint-sized hearts as children as one of the regulars on
Mister Rogers' Neighborhood.
Born Betty Kay Ageloff December 30, 1942 in New York City, Betty studied art and dance at Bennington College. In 1968, Aberlin made her debut on MRN, mainly appearing on the Make Believe segments as "Lady Aberlin". Aberlin appeared on the show for 33 years until its ending in 2001. The show's star, Fred Rogers, died two years later.
MRN's cancelation did not stop Aberlin. She has appeared in several Kevin Smith films, namely "Dogma", "Red State" and his most-recent, "The 4:30 Movie". She's still quite active at 83.
In 1975, Aberlin co-founded WYEP 91.3 Pittsburgh.
With the death of Joe Negri a few weeks ago (11 days shy of his 100th birthday), Aberlin is one of a handful of
MRN regulars still left, along with David Newell (Mr. McFeeley), Francois Clemmons and Chuck Aber.
In 1968, Aberlin had an important discussion with Daniel Tiger about assassination.
New game next week!
