Work Gripes

Do you have multiple monitors synced?
At that time I had a laptop and a CRT. Now in the office I have a laptop and 2 large monitors.
At home I usually use my laptop and a 50" (or something....I haven't measured it in years.....)
Having a giant workspace like that is also an advantage that I hope you didn't lose when shit went digital.
The problem with drafting on computers is that you can zoom in much closer than anybody can see in a print. There is a tendency to add much more detail than anyone will ever see. It's just a waste of time.
and I don't care.

That makes sense. Being an architect means you are a super nerd. So obviously, if all of a sudden you have the ability to zoom in and create and edit to a degree at which no one except you will ever see or care about, you're still going to want to do it because you're a passionate super nerd.

That's my way of both teasing and respecting you at the same time. I would do the same shit with some stuff in my life.

You know how cutting those stupid Gatorade eight pack plastic things keeps me up at night??? I bet missing some tiny detail on a blueprint that is basically insignificant to everyone in the entire world except me, would drive me insane and I'd have to fix it.

I would expect no less. :hatsoff:

Guilty as charged,

At the end of my shift today I had a woman who hadn't been to her unit in months and at one point was in auction status come in. She had our lock and tag on the unit so I had to go with her to open it. She then started talking about theft so I did the normal thing and had her call the police to file a report.

Meanwhile, since she was up for auction at one point before paying her bill prior to the auction date, that meant we had pics of her unit cause we cut her lock. I also took pics of her unit today.

I wish I could post those pics cause it proves she's full of shit. The pics from Sept 24 and today July 25 are almost exactly the same. There are slight differences but nothing more than one of those kids books that says find the 5 differences in the 2 pics.

Anyway the cop came and I explained it and showed him the Sept pics then he went to the unit and he knew there was nothing stolen.

So the cop and I got chatting. I asked about how shitty hot those Kevlar vests they where must be. Down here they wear them outside of their shirts and they are more like fishing vests than just a bulletproof shield. He explained that yea they do suck but more or less everything he needs for his job is in one of the vest's pockets. Besides the stuff to subdue someone.

So the gun, magazines, taser, pepper spray, and cuffs are on the belt.

The radio, camera, phone, notebook, pen, flashlight, first aid, gloves, extra cuffs, sometime extra mags.....shit like that is on the Kevlar.

I'm sure it's not the same for all of them but that's what this guy told me.

Also I told him I could never be a cop. I said jokingly but also kinda seriously idk how they manage to have such patience. I said the minute someone told me their taxes paid my salary I'd taser them in the face then I'd get arrested and getting arrested as a cop must be super embarrassing.

He got a kick out of that.

I'm pretty sure if people with misdemeanors in their 20's couldn't get jobs in positions of authority we wouldn't have a police force and we'd live in daily version of the purge.
According to google you are right. Minor misdemeanours such as speeding are overlooked. Some police forces have issues with more serious ones.

Did you ask if he gets to keep the blow that he confiscates when he shakes down college kids?

Asking for a friend….

It seemed kind of obvious.

When cops bust people, you often hear stories about (the less than honest) cops keeping some of the drugs or cash that they find when they search the perps.

Oh you were talking about immoral policemen keeping illegal substances or legal tender for themselves.

I simply had no idea what you meant when you used the terms "blow" and "shakedown". After all, I am a man of society and am obviously unfamiliar with street urchin vernacular.

I got so fucking angry at this I was like shaking at work today.

I found a dude sleeping in his unit yesterday. I've given this guy a million chances. I've let him hang out in his unit all day long. You're not supposed to do that. I've let him leave after hours. You're not supposed to do that then about a week ago I saw him come and go at like midnight. Our gate closes at 9:00 p.m. And I went out and was like dude. You can't be fucking flaunting the rules like this bro. Our gate closes at 9:00 p.m. and then yesterday I found him sleeping in his unit and that is a 100% eviction.

He wasn't even hiding it. He had his door open.

I get a sleeper maybe twice a year. It's no fun to kick them out cuz they're basically homeless people and you're making their life worse but fuck this guy.....look what he did...... well first.......Let me back up........We were arguing when I told him like dude you're getting evicted. Tomorrow I'm starting the process and then he started yelling at me and then he told me that I'm only evicting him because I don't like black people and so right after that happened I called my boss. I told him what happened and my boss started the eviction process but then look.....He called the fucking call center and had some dude in India leave this note in his account:

My boss knew right away it was bullshit. My boss is second generation Mexican by the way, just FYI. Everybody knows it's bullshit but like oh my God it fucking hit me like a ton of bricks....... this fucking asshole.

To be clear, I never once mentioned anything about his skin. If I was going to tease this mother fucker I would tease him for being like half a midget and wearing a dirty Cincinnati Bengals jersey everywhere he goes.

Whatever it just really upset me.

I would say over 50% of my clients are black. There's probably 20% Haitian and other Islanders and then the other 30 is split between Latino and white.

I've never in my life had had someone falsely accuse me like this and it sucks..... Even if it's coming from a hobo.

At least all the management is on my side and that's cool but I still fucking hate it dude.

Can you see the note customer service put in his account?

EDIT: Oh.....did you not try to zoom in? As Scotch showed it's clearly readable with a zoom.
I was unable to get the zoom to work right. I can read Scotch's so I no longer have to worry about that.
