I haven't updated my letterboxd stuff in the past couple months. I sort of burned myself on it. I need to try and update some 2024/2025 films I recently watched. Like The Twisted Childhood Universe, Megan 2.0, The new Naked Gun and whatever else.

Over the weekend, watched Apple latest new TV show. The first episode is really good, the second was a tad slower. It kind of reminds of NBC's show The Hunting Party. This show should might be interesting to watch. It's basically about "Follows Frank Remnick, a U.S. Marshal in charge of the quiet and weathered barrens of Alaska, as he needs to deal with a prison transport plane crash full of violent inmates inside his jurisdiction."

It stars Jason Clarke, Dominic Cooper, Haley Bennett, Alfre Woodard, quite a few others and Johnny Knoxville in a few episodes.

My thoughts on The Twisted Childhood Universe

Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey - It was alright, basically any typical horror film with another human in a costume. Quite a few fucked up scenes.

Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 - I would think it's better than the second, way more killing and when you think it ends. The film ends with the typical horror twist as evil comes back for another film.

Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare - This Peter Pan character almost a child pedophile. Peter wants to send you off to never-never land.

The two Mickey Mouse films

The Mouse Trap - One of the stupidest ridiculous films I ever watched.

Screamboat - I thought it was pretty good, kind of reminds me of a Sharknado, which was entertaining.

I'm not the best reviewer with words.

Megan 2.0 - The first one was better. It felt like a cash grab trying to ride the wave of the first one.

The Naked Gun - Another stupidest ridiculous film I ever watched. Nowhere near the level as funny as the original.

Fight or Flight - This film was great, it kind of compared to Bullet Train, as it is also an action film set within an enclosed space, but on an airplane instead of a train. It had cheesy special effects and creative violence. It had its over-the-top, high-energy fight like John Wick. It had quite a bit of action, dark humor which I would totally watch again and recommend this film whom ever into that stuff.

This is one of the stupidest corporate moves I've ever heard about. So now "Apple TV" (the streaming service) and "Apple TV" (the smart TV device) share the same name. But one is a piece of hardware that plugs into your TV, so you can watch any streaming service; and the other is Apple's streaming service. Good move.

Edit: Perhaps they got advice from the guy who thought that renaming HBO MAX to MAX was a good idea.

I’m up to 9,200 movies on Letterboxd. I’ve been watching a lot of movies from Japan lately. The Human Condition trilogy. Plus a lot of Studio Ghibli classics.

This is how I rank the countries based on the importance to all time film making.

U.S.
France
Japan
Italy
U.K.
Germany
Sweden
Russia/USSR
China

Only other companies with +, that I know of are Paramount, MGM and Disney.

With the recent merger with Paramount and shutting down MTV. Who knows what they will do with the app in the future.

Disney is going to merge Hulu into their app sometime next year.

Amazon owns MGM, everything is ala cart with them.

Currently there's Hulu+ and ESPN + also.
They might still show ESPN+ they also got rebranded.

Stream Live Sports and Exclusive Originals All in One Place with ESPN | ESPN

On August 21, 2025, the streaming service ESPN+ was rebranded as ESPN Select. This change was part of a larger launch of a new direct-to-consumer (DTC) streaming service simply called ESPN.

Here is a summary of the changes:
  • The new ESPN service: This premium service, also known as ESPN Unlimited, includes access to all of ESPN's traditional networks, such as ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPNU, for $29.99 a month.
  • ESPN Select (the former ESPN+): This service continues to offer exclusive live events, original studio shows, and the on-demand library. It functions similarly to the old ESPN+ and is priced at $11.99 a month.
  • Subscribers were transitioned: Existing ESPN+ subscribers were automatically moved to the ESPN Select plan, continuing to receive the same content.
  • The ESPN app was enhanced: The ESPN app received new features, including a personalized "SportsCenter For You" and integration with betting and fantasy sports information.

I've been watching Chad Powers on Hulu. An old quarterback who wears a disguise so he can go back to play more college football. This seems to be the year for older people going back to play college football.

In Disney's 2016 animated film Zootopia, Colombian singer-songwriter Shakira voiced a gazelle named Gazelle and sang Try Everything. In Zootopia 2, which will open in theaters on November 26, Shakira returas as Gazelle and sings Zoo, which she co-wrote with Ed Sheeran and Blake Slatkin. The song was released as a single on October 10. Today Disney released the lyric video. Hurry and watch!

Went to see "Good Fortune" tonight. It was very uneven. It had it's funny parts but got bogged down in preaching and messaging and no real good way to get out of the plot points that made it funny.

Friday night after doing Family Weekend stuff at my son's college, my wife and I were looking for something to do. 2 tickets plus parking was a (as Nina would say) WHOPPING $116, something I wouldn't normally spend on a night out. Especially on a one-hour long film. But I will say, this was excellent. And it's a 360º film.

A House of Dynamite can go fuck itself.

I think just about anything that stars Idris Elba as a leading role is currently bad. He was alright as Heimdall in Thor. To me it all started when I saw him in The Dark Tower, The Mountain Between Us, whatever in between and Apple TV show Hijack. I guess, I try and avoid anything that stars him in it.

Just watched Weapons on HBO Max. The first hour drags a bit while it tries to set up everyone’s storyline, but it finally picks up in the second half and gets pretty interesting. Not sure what all the hype was about though — it’s fine, just not mind-blowing. The cast (Julia Garner, Josh Brolin, and Benedict Wong) definitely helps keep it watchable.

I finally got around to watching Hereditary, and wow… I didn’t realize what I’d been missing (or what kind of mental damage I was signing up for). The film was really good — slow at first, but it builds this suffocating tension that just gets under your skin. By the time things hit full chaos, it’s disturbing, eerie, and straight-up messed up in the best way. Toni Collette absolutely kills it — that performance is pure nightmare fuel. The movie isn’t just scary; it’s emotionally draining and weirdly tragic. There’s something deeply unsettling about the family dynamic that makes it hit harder than your average horror flick. Overall, Hereditary is one of those films that sticks with you — disturbing, fucked up, and completely unforgettable.
