32. LIVE IF LIFE - OPUS
I liked this one much better than Falco Rock Me
Amadeus. It doesn't played as much as it should.
11. TENDER LOVE - FORCE M.D.'S
Great Makeout song with GF back in the day
10. NIKITA - ELTON JOHN
I like this one from Elton
9. ADDICTED TO LOVE - ROBERT PALMER
Classic song and the video who Robin Thicke did a remake off
7. MANIC MONDAY - BANGLES
Love Susanna Hoffs. She is still Hot in herlate 50's
6. WHAT YOU NEED - INXS
Loved this band back in the day RIP Micheal Hutchence
2. R.O.C.K. IN THE U.S.A. - JOHN COUGAR MELLENCAMP
Great song and captures the 60's Rock sound perfectly

This may be the VJ40 with the most amount of songs I like on it ever... 18 thumbs-up!

37. I DO WHAT I DO - JOHN TAYLOR

WTF was that? Stick to the bass, dude.

33. BAD BOY - MIAMI SOUND MACHINE

I don't like it, but boy is it catchy.

32. LIVE IS LIFE - OPUS

Inexplicably good. One of my fav 80s songs, but I can't justify why I like it so much.

27. SO FAR AWAY - DIRE STRAITS

This song actually sucks - dumb lyrics, bad synth, boring, repetitive - but for some reason, I've always kinda sorta liked it a little.

10. NIKITA - ELTON JOHN

Yet another song I shouldn't like, but do. Back in the day, I thought it was cute in the music video how Elton keeps showing up at border guard's booth again and again.

8. LET'S GO ALL THE WAY - SLY FOX

Same beat as "A Fly Girl" - 'She gave you a number, it was dial-a-joke'.

1. ROCK ME AMADEUS - FALCO

The only song on the radio where you can clearly hear 'c*nt'. Granted, the line is "War wohl jedermann bekannt" but man it sure sounds like the c-word.

Some songs that will never make it into the Top 40:
#42 Little Richard "Great Gosh A Mighty"
#67 Dennis DeYoung "Call Me"
#72 Dionne Warwick "Whisper In The Dark"
#76 Animotion "I Engineer"
#79 David Bowie "Absolute Beginners"
#84 Ozzy Osbourne "Shot In The Dark"
#87 Katrina And The Waves "Is That It?"
#89 Fine Young Cannibals "Johnny Come Home"
#91 Pat Benatar "Le Bel Age"
#92 Greg Kihn "Love And Rock And Roll"
#95 Anne Murray "Now And Forever"
#99 John Cafferty "Hearts On Fire"
#100 Dokken "In My Dreams"

The Outfield were pretty good. They had one or two other hits in the 80's before fading out in the US.

I liked all of these Outfield singles back in the day as they came out.

1985 "Say It Isn't So"
1986 "Your Love"
1986 "All the Love in the World"
1989 "Voices of Babylon"
1990 "For You"
1992 "Closer to Me"

Everything from their second album 'Bangin' (1987) was just awful.

Which probably explains why there was no third album.

i'm shocked Kenny Rogers wasn't on the countdown 11 times. that's pretty standard for 80/81/82.

38. STARS ON 45 (STEVIE WONDER TRIBUTE) - STARS ON 45

They played the wrong song. They played the original mostly-Beatles Stars On 45. Though I just read elsewhere that it's now fixed.

37. TAKE OFF - BOB AND DOUG MCKENZIE WITH GEDDY LEE

I am your father, Luke. Give in to the dark side of the force, you knob.

31. MAMA USED TO SAY - JUNIOR

Never heard this one before, never heard of him, but I kinda dug it.

30. HANG FIRE - ROLLING STONES

Whoa, totally forgot about this one. Good tune.

23. I'VE NEVER BEEN TO ME - CHARLENE

I’VE NEVER BEEN TO ME - CHARLENE
makes me miss the 'Movin Easy' channel. it was the perfect guilty pleasure for those long rides home after a gig with my metal band

22. BEATLES MOVIE MEDLEY - BEATLES

They played the wrong song. They played the original mostly-Beatles Stars On 45. Though I just read elsewhere that it's now fixed. (Yes, that was straight copy/paste of my comment about #38!)

21. EBONY & IVORY - PAUL MCCARTNEY & STEVIE WONDER

Mixed feelings on this one. Love the concept, and it's catchy. But lord it's AC squared. Those horns? And man it draaaaaaaaags.

16. FIND ANOTHER FOOL - QUARTERFLASH

Another totally forgotten gem. For '82, this rocks!

12. OH PRETTY WOMAN - VAN HALEN

Dat video lolz.

8. KEY LARGO - BERTIE HIGGINS

Drove to Key West for a wedding a few weeks ago. Stopped briefly in Kay Largo to post a pic on FB of my wife and I. The caption: "Just like Bogie and Bacall"

3. CHARIOTS OF FIRE - VANGELIS

Two things. 1) I wish they'd stop playing the Nina's final song before she's done giving hints to guess it 2) I wish Nina would stop saying "and this one is so easy" almost every single time. It's not always easy, especially when her hints are things like "the drummer's dog prefers Alpo" and "it was recorded somewhere in the United States".

Some songs that will never make it into the Top 40:
#48 Cars "Since You're Gone"
#53 Sugarhill Gang "Apache"
#60 Carole King "One To One"
#64 Diana Ross "Work That Body"
#80 Police "Secret Journey"
#83 David Bowie "Cat People"

Yeah I didn't see it until years later. One wacky-ass video. Banned from MTV originally. Starts with a sex slave, ends with a tranny. Oh, you wild and cah-razy guys....

Van Halen, ‘Oh Pretty Woman’ – Banned Music Videos

Good opportunity to mention that Diver Down has always been near the bottom on my list of VH albums. 5 covers, 3 instrumentals. Meh. A friend of mine owned it in '82 and me (just turning 12 at the time) never understood its appeal. But soon after, my cousin introduced me to Fair Warning (which became my favorite album growing up just ahead of Def Lep's Pyromania) and then 1984 dropped (right up there behind Fair Warning) and VH became my fav band as a teen.

That is too funny
