40. CHERRY BOMB - JOHN COUGAR MELLENCAMP

It's an okay song - I like it a little better now knowing that 'Cherry Bomb' is what he is calling the dance club he used to go to as a teen. Makes a little more sense. I no longer think of terrorism when I hear it, like setting off explosives at a teen club.

38. GOT MY MIND SET ON YOU - GEORGE HARRISON



26. BOYS NIGHT OUT - TIMOTHY B. SCHMIDT

More like Timothy Be Schit. This was terrible. Especially the lyrics. Worst sexual innuendo I've heard in a while.

I'm trying to remember if Onederland plays 'La Bamba'. If so, then I say 'Dear Onederland....'

Yeah I would've thought "Learning To Fly" would've peaked higher than 70. But it did reach #1 on the Mainstream Rock Chart, which at least shows how much play it got on rock radio.

That explains it. By 1987 I had switched to rock radio to avoid the whiney houstons and such populating pop radio.

Surprised at all 3. All 3 got plenty of airplay. Triumph was Canadian so probably got more due to CanCon rules.

Interesting tidbit about this song: Kate originally named the song "Deal With God" but the label insisted she change it:
"You see, for me it is still called 'Deal With God', that was its title. But we were told that if we kept this title that it would not be played in any of the religious countries, Italy wouldn’t play it, France wouldn’t play it, and Australia wouldn’t play it! Ireland wouldn’t play it, and that generally we might get it blacked purely because it had God in the title."
