Bad 25
Only liked 2 songs in the lower half of the countdown. So much crapola!
15. HERE I GO AGAIN - WHITESNAKE
Just auditioned a singer who chose this as a song to showcase his vocals (so the band had to learn how to play it). We have people choose 2 songs they are already comfortable singing, and 2 of our songs.
13. I WANT YOUR SEX - GEORGE MICHAEL
George Michael stopped performing this song after 1989. In 2008, he told the LA Times that he hates the song and described it as “bad Prince”. I learned that today because my curiosity led me to write a full bio of the song
on genius.com.
4. LUKA - SUZANNE VEGA
My roomate and I lived on the 6th floor of a building. On the floor below us, there was a guy from Sweden named Ilka. We used to sing "My name is Ilka, I live on the fifth floor. I live downstairs from you. Yes, I think you've seen me before" to him.
#86 Def Leppard "Women"
Hard to believe there was a time when Hysteria was considered a failure. Here's an
interesting read.
Excerpts: "Cliff Burnstein was scared that we’d lose rock credibility in America if we put kind of a pop single out first, so we put 'Women' out ... It was generally considered to be a disappointment and the record was generally considered to be a failure ... The first single didn’t do well and we were very concerned ... The label was scared as hell [after “Women” and then “Animal” didn’t take off in the US] ... People were telling us we had a stiff album and we turned it around on them. We went seven singles in and our biggest singles were singles four and five."
