You could always work for Taco Bell and make Nacho Fries for them.

But when you serve Nacho Fries to the customers, please include ketchup.
This isn't a racist joke, you know what happened to Roseanne.

At least you were prepared for it.
When I got laid off a few years ago, it was a weight off of my shoulders.
The economy was crap, the office had been getting slow, my projects were all wrapping up, and I had been there for 17 years, so I was more expensive than a lot of younger staff. I had been expecting it for a while.

Good luck with the search!

I knew there was a freaking leak in my car's a/c. When I got it fixed last week the guy couldn't find it. He really looked too cause I had to stand there the whole time so I could blow into that dumb Interlock thing. Well it stopped working yesterday (yesterday was an all-around great day for me) and now I'm taking it back to the shop at 3. The guy was really nice and when I was there last he said if it stopped working again he would credit my payment towards the next visit. This time it will be more expensive than a simple Freon recharge. Can't wait to go spend a few hundo on my first day of unemployment.

There is nothing wrong with ketchup on regular fries. When you start bringing taco fries into the discussion you sound like Roseanne or Mel Gibson. Stop it.

Got fired on Tuesday and so far have applied at 3 places. I have an interview tomorrow and next Thursday. 2 of the places I know for a fact will pay significantly less than what I was making. On top of that the Amazon one is only part time. And on top of that, even though getting interview so quick is encouraging, I still have the issue of the criminal record to deal with. So things could be better and also worse.

I got complacent. I got my security gig not too long after I moved to FL and once they made me full time, which often included many OT hours, I stopped thinking about finishing my degree or really moving up in the world at all. With that gig I certainly wasn't getting rich, but I was content. I made more than enough to pay all my bills and have enough left over to both start a savings and blow some cash on dumb toys.

That's not the case anymore. My first priority is getting a new job even if it sucks and the pay is bad. Once I have a gig I can always look around for something better. After that I need to think about going back to school. I have an Associate degree so I don't have too much left to go. Thing is, what I originally wanted to do before getting old, fat and lazy at my security gig was teach elementary school. Not sure how easy that would be now with my record. It's something I need to look into and depending on what happens there maybe think of a different career path.

The good news is my company is paying out all my accrued vacation time. I have a ton of it so I will be getting paychecks until around the half way point of July. I checked and that is not a legal requirement in FL so it's nice that they are doing it. I also get to keep my insurance for a bit but that doesn't really matter since I already took care of seeing all the docs in the weeks leading up to the firing. Still nice though.

I should be able to get a job soon but if not I will be stable enough, without even thinking about touching the retirement, for a good long time.

So my priorities are as follows:

-Get a new job, any job.
-Get a better job.
-Find out about being a teacher with a record.
-Figure out going back to school despite what I find out about the teaching stuff.
































-Buy more Casios.
