Adventures In Koopland

I would just forget the account. You don’t know if it would blow up in your face in the hands of someone else.

So I think it's really over now with DJ, at least for a good long time before or if we ever try again.

We had a big fight. I have been doing all the same things for her over the past 5 weeks we've been broken up...helping her with her side gig and providing her with supplemental income for bills. So today I tell her that while I know the breakup was all my fault I wish she would be a little more open to talking to me about more than her business or short 2 word texts like "thank you". She responded to this by telling me she no longer wanted any of that help. We then get into it a bit and I bring up the money I've been giving her....and that was it.

Oh boy was she pissed. So she gave me back the diamond earrings I bought her (I told her to keep them) and she gave me the $400 I gave her to fix her car about a month ago. I asked for that since that was the only cash I gave her where she made a point to tell me she would pay me back.

I think we might have one more face to face in a few days to smooth things over so we will be good at work but after that it's likely over forever.

I hope we can be friends and I also hold out slight hope that in a year or whatever we may find each other again but today is the first day in our 5 week break up where I truly feel that we are now broken up.

I'm sad that I emotionally hurt her with my drinking. For the most part it was a good run.

Some times it is best to just move on. I would not expect to be friends for a while. Hopefully you can be civil to each other at least.

And next time remember you can never win an argument with a woman. You always need to choose the path of least 'damage'. That usually involves the phrase 'yes dear'.

Well said IRBS.

Sorry it’s over Koop. Fortunately you know where your faults were with the relationship. It should be able to make it easier to be civil and get along at work.

That's why I don't date co-workers. If things become awkward, you almost have to deal with that person everyday. If the relationship does go well, do you keep it a secret or open it up to co-workers and possibly HR might have to be involved. I rather be good friends with that person. When the day when you or the other person doesn't work there anymore. Then pull the trigger to ask that person out, if they are still single.

One job I had, there was a co-worker I kinda had a crush on and we both knew we were gay. He did ask me once if you might want to get a drink. Unfortunately I did turn him down, because I didn't want to date at the work place. Like a month later for the fun of it. I did ask him the same thing and he turn me down and I found out he was dating someone. I probably regret never going out with him now, who knows how our relationship would have gone?

There was another situation, were this one girl and I became great friends. We both really likes each other and people thought we were going out, which we didn't. But we did act like a married couple at the job. Years later when she was let go and I was working for another company. I invited her to be my date at the company party. Which I glad because we our relationship turned serious for couple of years. Unfortunately the relationship ended do to some family issues.

Weren’t you freaking out about getting fired for missing work due to your injury? Now you are taking time off for no reason?

That is why everybody here said dating her was a bad idea. Now you have to rise above it and suck it up.
