Adventures In Koopland

the smartass friend.
He had it coming to him. Glad at least 2 of you got away.

I had a NYC anticlimactic incident a bit like Koops. The Mrs and I were visiting a friend and his wife in (I think) 99. They lived in the Greenwich Village near the meatpacking district. It was kinda late, after midnight, and we were walking from a bar to some other place to get some food and a couple more drinks. We were walking through a spot that was pretty well void of business', apartments, and people. A couple of guys walked past us kinda slowly and we could see that they were checking us out. My friend glanced over his shoulder and told us that they had turned around so we should walk faster. I had my backpack with my camera in it. I also had my butterfly knife, which I took out of my pocket. I didn't open the knife, but I stopped and turned around to face them so that they knew we saw them back there. I turned and kept walking with my group. I looked back again a dozen steps or so and they had stopped following us.

I still haven't gotten to stab anyone.

My dad forged papers to get into the marines

Your dad was a marine? That's super cool. Did he see action?

Also, guys back then were awesome. Even as teens putting their lives on the line for family and country.

What generation was your old man? Mine was "The Lost Generation" too young to fight in WW2 but had to deal with it's fallout.

I'm pretty sure that's how you become a batman. Origin story and whatnot.

Also, taking the knife out is incredibly scary. Even if you didn't open it. I can't imagine having to stab someone. Glad it all worked out.

Sorry if I'm peppering you with questions but where were you grandparents from? Like what country?
There's a thread for that

He was born in '29. He entered the marines just after we nuked Japan. He was on an aircraft carrier that patrolled the Pacific in the aftermath, when the US took control. It was the Fleet Marine Force- Pacific. I have this patch somewhere.

You can imagine that he was a real hard-ass as a father, and generally as a person.

There were a few other times that I remember taking it out, or at least putting my hand in my pocket to grab it. Those occasions were even more boring than the NYC thing compared to people that had actual incidents.

I did stab a neighborhood kid in the leg with a garden hoe when I was 9 or 10.

guys this is a really bad one. i think i gave myself alcohol poisoning this time. i havent been able to walk to more than the fridge and have eaten anything but ice. today i managed to get to the car to get grape juice i had in the trunk case i need some calories in me. i puked all day yesterday and have the deep guttural coughs today. if i can sleep at all im still semi conscious. im waiting for the grape juice to get slushy in the freezer then i will try to choke it down. i think i may need live in rehab once this passes and that means a weird convo with my aunt about getting the trust fund to pay for it.

Well, I now personally know someone who caught the China Virus.

I've been talking to the ex everyday for the last 11 days. She was feeling sick last week and got tested a couple days ago. Turns out she tested positive. She is still feeling pretty bad but so far it seems like she will be ok and can ride it out at home, no need to go to the hospital.

Being the compassionate person I am, I see an opportunity here. I've told her multiple times I'm happy to help with even the smallest task and I sent her a card. I also got her a get well soon Vermont teddy bear that should arrive tomorrow. I'm just such a great guy.

Look how cute it is...

Well so far half of my co-workers have been contacted with the virus. They all been tested negative. I'm not taking any chances and really being careful now.

Did you have the Scottish Salmon?
Haha! Actually I did (no joke). Not because of the Scottish part, but because of the salmon part. Mrs. Scotch had the Statler chicken. I was expecting it to be served by a guy with a really low voice, but no. We also split the soup of the day (corn chowder).
She was interested in the seared scallops, but she chickened-out.:drums3:
