i saw that...there was a real river happening over by the peoplemover queue.
that reminds me, they have these metal palm trees in tomorrowland that have a whole back story. when they have metal coconuts on them they get harvested and those coconuts somehow provide the fuel for space mountain. when they get picked the leaves of the trees go down to help them generate more.

Pay a small fortune to park, pay a much bigger fortune to get into the park – and then pay even more to get on some of the rides. Bob Chapek may be the Walt Disney Company's CEO but Scrooge McDuck is obviously in charge of theme park pricing.

In 25 years it will be considered horribly offensive and they will retheme it again.
Also there are ZERO references to anything racial or even human on that ride. All they do is sing Everybody's Got a Happy Place and then the bunny sings a version of zipadeedoodah at the end after he beats brer bear and brer fox. I will miss that ride. Hopefully the new theme will be cool. I loved The Great Movie Ride but I like Runaway Railway that replaced it more. However Movie Ride was never one of my top 5. Splash Mountain is my #2 favorite.
While this one ride bothers me a little, overall I don't mind rides changing with the times. In other areas (like the Cleveland Indians) it bothers me but with Disney Walt was very clear from the beginning that the parks will never be complete so constant change was expected from the very start.
But Chapek sucks. He's shaping up to be the worst CEO in 36 years if he's keeps this up. I'll get into that later.

I have a DVD of Song Of The South. I also have a copy of Jim Korkis' 2012 book Who's Afraid Of The Song Of The South? The movie premiered November 12, 1946 at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta. The premiere was attended by Walt and Lillian Disney, several Disney animators and Song Of The South co-stars Bobby Driscoll, Luana Patten and Ruth Warrick – but, because the city was segregated, none of the black cast members were present. They could not enter the theatre or any public building in downtown Atlanta.
The movie took place after the Civil War and did not depict blacks as slaves – but protesters thought otherwise. Of course almost none of them had actually seen the movie. Harlem Congressman Adam Clayton Powell Jr. called the film "an insult to American minorities." An editorial in Ebony magazine said the film promoted "Uncle Tom-ism as the model of how Negroes should behave in white company."
In a 1947 article in The Criterion, Uncle Remus portrayer James Baskett said, "I believe certain groups are doing my race more harm in seeking to create dissension than can ever come out of Song Of The South." Co-star Hattie McDaniel declared, "If I had for one moment considered any part of the picture degrading or harmful to my people, I would not have appeared in it."

Wow, I'm happy I'm a FL resident. The new WDW annual pass info came out and it looks like what I have now is still available just like $40 more at $400 total. They always go up in price so that's no surprise. The weird thing is that 3 of the 4 annual pass options are only available to FL residents...Well one is available to FL residents and Disney Vacation Club members but the only pass available to all non residents is the most expensive one.
Parking is still free for all passes so that's nice. With Universal free parking only comes with their higher tier passes.
Up until this news (since the reopening) people were not allowed to buy new annual passes, they were only letting current passholders renew. That's what I did earlier this year and I'm good until March 2022.

This new version of what used to be called the Weekday Select Pass is actually better for me. It's still only weekdays but now I'll only be blacked out 6 weeks and 5 days out of the whole year!!!
My current pass has me blacked out all of June and July along with Christmas, New Year's and spring break. With this new one I can still go in June and July! This is well worth $40 more. Finally some good new about Disney prices. The whole new Lightning Lane thing sucks...it basically makes you pay $15 for Fast Pass then pay again on top of that for Fast Passes to the most popular individual rides. That really blows but this annual pass news is great!

I'm thinking about taking a good old fashioned Disney day trip tomorrow. It's been (one week) like 2 years since I did a trip all in one day. I'm trying to save money at the moment and I can make the trip, bring my food and pay for nothing except tolls and gas. I made a Magic Kingdom reservation for tomorrow. If I'm in the mood when I wake up I'll head out.

3 hours. It used to be just over 2.5 when I was in Boca.
That's nothing though. I've always enjoyed driving and I have a routine. I listen to a full Phish show on the way up (and now I have the current summer 2021 tour to catch up with) and by the time I'm like 15 miles from the parks the show is over and I turn on Disney music. On the way home I listen to podcasts.
One time, back when I was doing the day trips pretty often, I got all the way up to Epcot, rode Spaceship Earth and Figment then decided I wasn't feeling it and turned around and drove home.
So I'll leave at like 6 or 7am, the park opens at 9am, do Magic Kingdom until probably 1pm, chill in the car and eat lunch for a bit, then head over to Epcot when park hopping opens at 2pm, spend a couple hours there, then head home around 6 or 7pm and be back here at 9 or 10pm.

It took 4 hours to get here since I left at rush hour. It took 45 mins just to get to I95 from my place (a normal 12 min drive due to 2 crashes) but now that I'm here it's awesome. Everything has been a walk on so far including space and splash mountain. I'm in the longest line of the day so far for Jungle Curise. They say it's 30 but I'm almost boarding and it's only been 7 mins. Usually this one has a crazy long line and I skip it. I want to check it out today though since they changed a bunch of scenes since I last rode.
