The Disney trip was fun. Did Magic Kingdom and Epcot. Since it was my first trip in 2+ years (I looked back in the thread the last time I went was 12.7.21) I decided to not be as frugal as normal and I paid extra to do the 2 new rides, Tron and Guardians. They were both fun but I'll never pay extra for them again. They weren't amazing. Guardians is the better of the 2. I also got to see the new walkthrough Moana attraction in Epcot and that was by far my favorite of the 3 new things I did. It's just a classic walkthrough attraction where you can play with various water effects. It's really neat and pretty.

However I also learned during this trip that my license is suspended and has been since February 2023!!! Hah. A cop ran my plate and pulled me over and told me. I got a ticket back in September 2022 for not coming to a complete stop before turning on red. I paid the ticket and thought that was that. It wasn't. Apparently I was randomly selected to do some driving course I never did and thus the suspension. It's my own fault. I probably didn't even read the letter they sent saying I had to do it. It is also possible my old roomie never gave it to me. Anyway I wound up taking the course 2 days ago and paying a ticket lawyer and they say it should be reinstated this week. I guess we'll see. It was a nerve racking 200 mile drive home knowing I was suspended. Also it's weird I was able to renew my registration last November with a suspended license, Google says I shouldn't have been able to do that. And I've been paying my insurance every month...they never mentioned anything.

In related news the RAV made it like a champ both ways!

Here's a short of the Moana attraction cause I assume not everyone wants to watch a 40 min video on it like me hahah.

That happened to me in the 90s. I had no idea my license was revoked in Maine (but not in NH or MA). Since I rarely drove to Maine, I found out several years after they pulled it. I had to have someone drive me to a DMV in Maine and pay some fines to get it restored. Weird.

I am unclear how the cop let JDHK continue driving home with a suspended license.

I got pulled over going back to my hotel from the Magic Kingdom. I was literally in the hotel parking lot when I pulled over so he let me drive to the building within the hotel complex. I just decided to risk it and drive home the next day after Epcot. Also he took my license so I don't have any ID at the moment so that's great.

I love the new Guardians of the Galaxy ride; it may be my new favorite in all of Disney World. Tron, however, was a massive letdown in my opinion. Sure, the whole light cycle ride is a rush, but it seems like it's over in about ten seconds! I won't be paying extra to ride that one again. It's incredible how long it took them to build that ride and the design/construction of everything is really nice, but the experience was really disappointing. The actual ride should be about 4x as long as it is.

In 1954-55, construction of Disneyland cost $17 million. The $1.9 billion expansion plan is more than 111 times that amount! Shares of Disney closed today at 105.44, a gain of 0.05 (0.047%).

For the first time since before Pam left as my boss (so about 18 months) I have decided to take weekends again. I was working 6 day weeks but now will have Monday and Tuesdays off. As a unsurprising result, I'm at Disney right now. Yesterday I wanted to do Rise of the Resistance and waited an hour for it which is the longest I'll ever wait for a ride by myself. I went back to the motel after the ride and then decided I wanted do real roller coasters so I went to Universal and bought an annual pass. I really wanted to do the Jurassic Park roller coaster but it also had an hour line and I wasn't feeling that wait again. I wound up doing the Hulk and Rip Ride Rocket. They are both fun.

Before yesterday I've only ever been to Universal once in 2005. It's fun to wander around parks where Idk where I'm going. I only spent about 90 mins there but I'm sure I'll be going back to do all the other stuff that's new to me now that I have the pass. It's no Disney but since I'm up here so often I may as well make the most of the other big theme parks in the area.

What I'm really looking forward to is next year when Universal opens Epic Universe. They are going to have a Nintendo Land that's way better than the ones that already exist in CA and Japan.

Anyway, I'll probably go to EPCOT this morning and do a ride or two before heading home. It's nice to have weekends again.

Back in Disney since I'll miss next week due to Memorial Day. Had a fun day, did Magic Kingdom then Universal then ended the night back in Magic Kingdom. I timed it perfectly and was on Thunder Mountain as the fireworks were happening. That was really cool.

In Universal I upgraded my annual pass to the top one where you get the express pass after 4pm. That's a game changer. I did a ton of rides and the longest I waited was 20 mins for Velocicoaster. That thing is amazing btw. Really great coaster that I'll be doing many more times. There are a ton of spots in that ride where you're lifted out of the seat for "air time" or whatever. It's cool. All the other rides were under 10 mins to get on. And I only did Islands of Adventure. I'm looking forward to doing it all again at the og Universal next time.

Now a quick 3 hour drive home and back to work tomorrow.

Got in a fight with Pam so I'm fleeing to Disney in the middle of the night haha. Just waiting for the Phish encore to end then I'm heading out. I'm couch touring them at Deer Creek IN right now. I should get to Disney by like 2:30.

Anyway, there is a hurricane around right now so it will likely be a very wet day up there tomorrow but I'm hoping that means light crowds. I don't care if I get soaked if I'm in the parks. And it wont be anywhere near a direct hit for Orlando so it's all good.
