Annoying Words & Phrases

For some reason, the above reminded me of one.

Before stating an opinion, starting the sentence with "To me".

Example : "To me, their defense isn't strong enough for a winning season."

Yes...we know "to you". You're the person saying the thing. It's implied.
Way back in my freshman year of high school, I had an English teacher who told us to never start a sentence with "In my opinion" or "I think that". He said "You're the one speaking, of course it's what you think".

People also say "to be honest...", as if all the other stuff they said was a lie.

Example : "To me, their defense isn't strong enough for a winning season."

I noticed that while dictating texts I often say "I mean" to start a sentence which is similar. I need to stop doing that. It's annoying to me that I have let that become a habit.

I agree with Rat on this, you know what I mean?
In rap, it's "you know what I'm saying?" Or more accurately, "naaah'm sayin'?"

I don't see a problem, but that company is notorious at sending non-stop junk mail that looks like some local guy scribbled out a handwritten quote. Until you see that the postmark is Minneapolis. Also, I don't have much need for replacement windows.

The postmark on this ad is Rochester MN. If it's really "Buy one, get one 40% off," I wouldn't have to buy four. And yes, the ad uses a computer-printed font that is supposed to look as though somebody wrote it by hand. I don't think anyone is fooled. I know I'm not.

I understand that buy 1 get 1 ... usually means you buy 2 to get the deal. But in this case, you must buy 4 to get the deal. So 2 are full price, and 2 are 40% off.

Or buy four to get one at 40% off? If I was an attorney, I could argue that "Buy one, get one 40% off" means that if you buy one window, that is the window that is 40% off and therefore it is not necessary to buy three more windows. Oh, and looky here:

Renewal by Andersen reported for making deceptive 'Made in USA' claims

They're sketchy all-around. Our whole house is Andersen 400 series windows and sliders, but it's the real thing. The "renewal by Andersen" is a replacement window, which is a whole different product. And probably a separate company.

Commenting on the capture of Charlie Kirk assassin Tyler Robinson, Utah Governor Spencer Cox said, "Words are not violence. Violence is violence."

That ranks right up there with "It is what it is."

The California Public Utilities Commission's Energy Upgrade California website is "committed to helping Californians be more energy efficient, utilize more sustainable natural resources, reduce demand on the energy grid and make informed choices about their energy use at home and at work." Today they sent out this notice:

"During a flex alert, pre-cool your home early, then set to 78F from 4-9 P.M."

I hope I never have to pre-cool my home at the same time I'm pre-heating my oven.

Stupid asshole nerds say "my partner" instead of boyfriend or girlfriend and even sometimes in place of husband or wife.

I'm old so when I first started hearing men say it I thought they were all gay. I thought it was like they were a little uncomfortable saying my boyfriend so they used partner instead. In that instance it's fine and it's not annoying.

BUT NO!!!!! Turns out a bunch of straight but what must be vegetarian men call their gf "my partner". Fuck those guys. Go eat some kale.
