#2 "Red Rubber Ball"
#16 "Turn-Down Day"
I don't know either song or anything about the artist. They disbanded before I was born.
Aren't they a band 98 mentioned in the CDT?Applejacks
#16 "Mexican Hat Rock"
#38 "Rocka-Conga"
1958 and 1959. No clue.
The first was hard to miss on the radio in 1979. Didn't care for it much then. But it is one of those where I like it now. Has grown on me probably since it takes me back to 1979 when I hear it.Rex Smith
#10 "You Take My Breath Away"
#32 "Everlasting Love" (with Rachel Sweet)
Don't know neither (aside from hearing the 2nd one on the 1981 VJ a couple times now). The first one, I'm reading, is from a 1979 TV movie.
Horrible, horrible song. Repeat the title 8,000 times in a sickly-sweet ballad, and you've got it.Rex Smith

Blondie, Joe Jackson, Elvis Costello and the Clash take me back to '79. We were clearly listening to different music back then.it takes me back to 1979 when I hear it.
I hear those songs too and they also take me back. I was listening to top 40 radio back then. I was 17.Horrible, horrible song. Repeat the title 8,000 times in a sickly-sweet ballad, and you've got it.

I was also 17, and I thought My Sharona signaled the end of civilization. I came from a very different musical background. But I agree that whatever we liked back then has always stayed with us.I hear those songs too and they also take me back. I was listening to top 40 radio back then. I was 17.
I was a late bloomer (I think we have discussed this). I first started really listening to music in 1978. My tastes admittedly were non-refined at the time and I liked almost everything on the top 40.I was also 17, and I thought My Sharona signaled the end of civilization.
