When's the last time you got snow in the Bayou?

Last decent snow in South Louisiana was 2008, I believe.
In my lifetime, we've had 5 or 6 minor snowfall events.
In 1989 we had a heavy dose of snowfall that left nice accumulations of snow. It was right before Christmas and it stayed on the ground for two days.
Be on the lookout- Snow is predicted for the entire coastline from Texas to DC!! It's supposed to miss us to the South- Crazy!

On a related note it seems as if The Weather Channel has resorted to extreme tactics to get DirecTV to reconsider dropping it from their lineup. They appear to have hacked every weather report and are sending out wacky forecasts of the most popular resort destinations in SC... Myrtle Beach & Hilton Head Island... to be almost summer like on Monday and have Record Blizzard Conditions on Tuesday with 3-5 inches of Snow and Ice.

StandBy for Icy Palm Trees

I can see the front page of popular tourist attractions like Myrtle Beach & Hilton Head Island:

Time to break out your shorts today as temps approach 70- tomorrow run for your life!

This winter storm has people here in a bit of a panic. Schools have shut down for the next two days. Business places closed. They're encouraging people to stay home due to the possibility of ice forming on the bridges and overpasses.

For me tomorrow, this means... Snow Day!!
(with snow, or sleet or freezing rain, or maybe just cold regular rain :right:)

That sounds funny from up here. They have cancelled school twice in the last 100 years here.

But we have plows and salt trucks and snow tires. Can't imagine a big need for those in Louisiana.

Balmy -10°F (-23°C) here in Menomonie, WI :)

Supposed to get down to -21°F (-29.5°C) tonight! :eek:mfg:

Can't take a chance turning my truck off for fear it won't start back up. Everything breaks easier because it becomes brittle :(

The plastic air line keeper broke. Cheap sh*t :hhh:

I have to go to Eau Claire tomorrow & pick up a load that's going to Troy, Ohio. Hope it's warmer down there. Penguin weather is ok in small doses :)

I can see the deep south headlines after tomorrow's snowfall. The panhandle of Florida is suppose to get sleet. Not that snow days are built into the school calendar in those areas. I'll take the white stuff and they can have today (18 with a matching wind speed from the north equaling a windchill of 0) and tomorrow. Morning low of 5 climbing to 22 with calmer winds.

Nothing like the southern tip of the great plains acting like a funnel for blue H's wondering south of the Canadian border nine times since November to send temps into single digits. We're use to getting one cold blast per year. Enough of the arctic buffet already.

Same here. Memegirl gets to stay home tomorrow. Everyone is freaked out because there will be 0.1 inches of ice accumulation tomorrow afternoon.

I'm going to work because I have not lost my mind.

When I'm down south and snow and ice come, I don't go out. Not because I can't drive or function in it, I'm afraid of all the idiots out there who have no clue what they are doing.

Very seldom scenes like this may be abundant Tuesday- How ironic that New Orleans, which has hosted so many Super Bowls, will get even worse conditions later today, than in Jersey for this years game :scatch:
