He has 25 songs on the Hot 100! Am I the only one who thinks this is total bullshit? Where's the outrage in the industry?

BROKEN CHART!

There are 2 kinds of people in the world:
- Kids under 16 who think this is the way it always was; and
- Everyone else, who stopped paying attention to the Hot 100 a long time ago.

And then there's you. ;)

Ehh, you young whippersnappers aren't old enough to remember the February 24 1940 chart when Glenn Miller had four songs in the top ten: In The Mood at number one, Careless at #2, Faithful Forever at #5 and The Gaucho Serenade at #8. And he accomplished this without calling himself "Lil Glenny."

In the music world, we've had Baby, Babyface, Da Baby, Baby Washington, Baby Dee, Baby Ray, Baby Lloyd, Baby Rose Marie (who would co-star on The Dick Van Dyke Show, 1961-66), Baby Doll, Babydoll, the Babydolls, the Babies, the Babys, the Baby Aristocrats Band, Baby Sticks & The Kingtones, Baby Earl & The Trini-Dads, Baby Huey & The Baby Sitters, and Baby Jane & The Rockabyes. Now we have Lil Baby. Please try to keep up.

I was listening to a Dr. Hook song, and recalled that both he and Dr. John died within the last year, and I often mixed them up. That got me thinking about artists with "Dr." in the name. I know Dr. Dog, but that's it. Maybe Channel has a list.

Dr Dirty! aka John Valby

KNOCK KNOCK!
WHO'S THERE?!
EISENHOWER!
EISENHOWER WHO?!
EISENHOWER LATE FOR THE GANG BANG....

I didn't know about him until I moved up here after college. Our department at work would have canoeing and rafting trips, where we'd camp overnight. And the best-of Valby cassette tape was always a highlight. And one time, maybe a dozen years ago, I saw a car take an exit off 495 up around Haverhill MA, and it looked like the license plate was DRDIRTY.

Mister scotch, in addition to the "Dr." artists already named, there was Dr. Alban, Dr. Dre, Dr. Horse, Dr. Jeckyl & Mr. Hyde (who released only one single, Genius Rap in 1982), Doctor Music, the Doctor Robinsons, the Spin Doctors, Doctor & The Medics, Dr. Feelgood & The Interns, Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band, and Dr. West's Medicine Show & Junk Band. And then there is Dr. Elvis, who is a real doctor:

The Beatles had the top five songs on the April 4 1964 Billboard Hot 100: Can't Buy Me Love, Twist & Shout, She Loves You, I Want To Hold Your Hand and Please Please Me. Are we to conclude that Taylor Swift in 2022 is twice as good as the Beatles were in 1964? I think not!

Taylor Swift scores one of the most historic weeks in the 64-year history of the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart, as she becomes the first artist to claim the survey’s entire top 10 in a single frame ... Swift also surges past Drake and The Beatles for the most titles from the top of the Hot 100 in a single week, as her monopoly of the top 10 bests those acts, each of whom infused the top five for a week each in 2021 and 1964, respectively. Meanwhile, as Swift adds 10 new Hot 100 top 10s, she now boasts the most top 10s among women in the chart’s history, with 40 (surpassing Madonna’s 38). Among all acts, she trails only Drake (59 top 10s).

This is like adding 3 more basketballs into the court in the NBA. Now people are scoring 200 points a game and then saying today's players are all better than Michael Jordan, Shaq, Larry Bird, etc.

IT'S A WHOLE DIFFERENT GAME WITH DIFFERENT CRITERIA.

IN 1964, IF YOU COULD CALCULATE HOW MANY PEOPLE WERE PLAYING BEATLES RECORDS ON THEIR HOME RECORD PLAYERS, THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN EVEN BIGGER THAN LIL BABY!

PS:

As on the Hot 100, Swift holds the entire top 10 on Streaming Songs and Digital Song Sales charts.

In other news, The Beatles held the entire top 75 in 1964 on the Playing On People's Record Players chart.

They mentioned this fiasco on the news last night, and the Mrs was trying to figure out what the eff is wrong with the world.

I explained the broken chart syndrome and how……broken…..reality has become.
She wasn’t quite sure if she should feel better or worse about things.

Every single one of these songs fell out of the top 40. One fell off the Hot 100 entirely. As Nina would say "In A Minute" falls a whopping 84 spots...
BTW Taylor holds 19 of those top 40 spots.

Definition of futility: repeat the same action and expect a different result.

The Hot 100 means nothing. It's manipulated garbage. Just stop referring to it.

But if you want to keep banging your head, look at how many times the song "As It Was" by Harry Styles has been #1 this year.

I can proudly say I have never heard of it.
