Once I got on the meds, it was back to burgers and steaks for me.
I'm not on the anti-big-pharma bandwagon, but I have friends who are, and they point to studies that show no relationship between statin-lowered cholesterol and reduced deaths. I'm on a statin myself, because I have a family history of high cholesterol and heart disease, being Jewish and all. But I have several friends who've gone 100% vegan, and I don't think they'd even eat one of those burgers.

I went pretty much vegetarian for a year to see if my cholesterol would improve. (It was really high.) My doctor wanted to see if it was dietary or hereditary.
I lost some weight, ate a lot of unfun veggy stuff, and my numbers only slightly improved. He put me on the meds, and my numbers have gotten to be ideal. (He said I'm in the bulletproof category for building up plaque.)

My family has a bit of history with heart stuff, so I figure that it's a good idea to respect the numbers no matter what.

Burger King is taking aim at McDonald's Happy Meals. Customers can now get their Whopper meal in a box that matches their mood, including "blue," "pissed" and "DGAF." (Don't ask.) The boxes are to raise awareness of mental health issues – but I think whoever came up with this ridiculous idea has some mental health issues of his own.

Burger King launches 'Real Meal' boxes because 'no one is happy all the time'

Wow, I honestly can't believe this is real! The commercial is full of serious situations that don't get dealt with in any proper way - not that any commercial could or should do that. And the solution to all this? Eat some shitty fast food, which will make you feel as shitty physically as you feel emotionally. How in the world do mental health experts think this is appropriate?

Burger King - If you're f'ked up, this place is for you.

Shitty fast food can make me feel great. 30 miles into Sunday's ride, I stopped at Whataburger and had a Sweet & Spicy Bacon burger, fries and a Coke.

When I arrived I felt depleted. A few hits of salt, fat and sugar and I felt like a human again. Same for all of the cyclists at the Whataburger that day.

It's like "carb loading"; doing it before a marathon is great, but doing it before sitting on the couch to watch Big Brother just makes you a fat shit.

When my daughter hikes over 20 miles a day up a mountain range, she packs super-high calorie granola. That's not what's going on with the BK depression meals.

Some new, weird fast food chicken (I think?) place popped up near me. It's 3 initials like KFC but different. I don't care enough to look it up right now. It's by my local Target if that helps any of you. Hah.

Looks like your typical fast food chicken place. Give it a try, and report back..

On a side note, I still think it's cool that the internet and apps allow us to know so much about a restaurant before we ever walk in the place... We can see what the place looks like, what the food looks like, and full access to the menu.

Remember the days of walking into a restaurant not knowing much of anything about it?
