This might sound weird coming from someone who actually used to be a DJ, but I'd be fine with them ditching the jocks & just becoming a music service. I can see what the song is on my display...I don't need Richard Blade telling me he once shared a sandwich with the singer of Living In A Box.

The day has come. My apps have updated.

This might sound weird coming from someone who actually used to be a DJ, but I'd be fine with them ditching the jocks & just becoming a music service. I can see what the song is on my display...I don't need Richard Blade telling me he once shared a sandwich with the singer of Living In A Box.
There are many many extra channels, that offer the same content as the mainstream channels, but without a DJ. So there's no need to eliminate DJs.

But having said that, I've gone on many a rant about how Richard Blade won't shut-up, and how the other ones say the same things over and over about the artists. They're also mandated to shoot the shit for 30 seconds after every 3rd song. So you're not getting a natural conversation.

Fortunately, I almost exclusively listen to XMU, which has the best DJs. They focus on the artists, and telling us about what's new. Jenny Eliscu really knows the indie scene.

There are many issues with the new app that I hope can be remedied. First the good, though: It seems like favorite channels, shows, episodes and playback position on on-demand content are finally kept in sync between phone, tablet, TV and web apps. This makes it a lot easier to pick up where you left off on a different device. I listen to the Howard Stern Show on demand, and you used to be able to fast forward or rewind in 15 second increments, but those controls are nowhere to be seen. And the transport slider is really inaccurate, so if you slide it over to the 20 minutes position with your finger, when you let go, it ends up at 24 minutes or 18 minutes or somewhere in between. Not good. And you used to be able to see a full list of different segments within the show while you were listening, but now you can only see them when you're using the slider to move forward or backward in the show.

These features were likely omitted by mistake and hopefully if enough people complain they will be added back in.

Biggest complaint I'm reading is everyone lost their favorites (which actually got moved to 'Library' in the app), I'm also hearing it works with Siri on HomePod and Carplay (Siri, play SiriusXMU on SiriusXM) but now Google and Alexa don't work.
Yeah, they should've warned everyone so they could at least screen cap or write down their previous favorites.

2 more complaints to add to the pile.

1) The new app got rid of the option to disable screen lock when the app is in use. This is a major blow for me, as the phone now locks every 10 minutes. What a freaking pain. Why do they do these things?

2) As an example of how the software people don't know wtf they're doing; when it goes from one song to the next, the album display briefly shows another album. It's like a subliminal suggestion. How juvenile.

Oh great. Now my (old) app won't remember the login information.

I'm sure it's just a coincidence, but still. Argh.

Edit: I accidentally updated to the new app, then downgraded...that was yesterday. Today, when close the old app, it forgets my login information about every other time I close the app.

I stole this from Reddit and I'm not sure I trust the CSRs who I can't verify work in Canada.

As a rule, CSRs are generally crappy. They'll tell you what you want to hear, get you off the phone and then move to the next call.

The Canadian ones are definitely a major exception.

But here's what I stole:
Jan. 29 sees the release of 7.1
Feb. 12 sees the release of 7.2

Among other things, they will reinstall the skip 30-seconds-forward and 15-seconds-back functions.

I can hold out hope for 2 weeks.

This is something I keep forgetting about:

On my Android device, I have several different accounts. For whatever reason, this week's SiriusXM app update was under a secondary account.

This seems to happen a lot ...I see a different number of apps in each account and sometimes I'll see updates in different accounts that aren't in my main account.

And yeah, I got the 15-sec skip/back buttons!

The latest iPhone update released today finally restores the 15 second skip buttons for on-demand talk shows.

Another thing I noticed is that there doesn't seem to be a 2-3 minute delay from the satellites. With the previous app, shows used to regularly start "late" such as at 2:03 or so.

I tuned in to a show at 2:01 or so and it was already playing. I believe this delay goes back to the original Sirius app from 2009 or whenever it was.

The "restart show" feature is back and they're up to version 7.1.1 on Android.

It's the one that looks like the "15 second back" button, but it's on the very bottom.
