He could've done it either way. But I remember that sometimes I'd walk into his office in October, and he'd inexplicably have a May calendar up. When I asked one time, he said he puts it on a month where the 1st starts on the right day, and because he knows it's not May, it didn't matter.

Between 1926 and 1963, Burma-Shave shaving cream advertised via a series of signs – usually six – posted alongside roads and highways. More than 600 sets of signs were erected. One set in 1960 said this:

THIRTY DAYS
HATH SEPTEMBER
APRIL
JUNE AND THE
SPEED OFFENDER
~BURMA-SHAVE

Also, it was one of those free Dunkin Donuts calendars.

That's insane. To the point I'd be so suspicious of this guy I'd keep track of any knives or sharp objects within his arm's length whenever we spoke.

If you are already changing the page on the calendar to find a month that starts on the correct day why not just flip to the correct month?

I dig a good wall calendar btw. Pam teases me about it but every January I buy a new one to hang in my kitchen. This year it's all pretty American locations.

If we look at this month, June 1st is a Sunday. So, say I got a free Dunkin Donuts calendar back in 2021. July 1st 2021 is a Sunday. So I put it on July on my 2021 calendar, and the days line-up. If you just use it as a fiscal calendar, where all that matters is the dates, and what the start/end date of each week is, it's fine.

OHHHHHHHHH.

You're talking about him using a calendar from a different year?????

I thought you were saying he uses one from the correct year and purposely puts it on the wrong month so long as the 1st is on the same day of the week. Like how this year the 1st of both Jan and Oct are on a Wednesday.

Ok that's less disturbing than I was originally thinking.

Instead of being afraid of this guy I now would wonder how good he could possibly be at his job if he is so lazy he doesn't get a new calendar for the current year.

The next month will also be good as long as the chosen month has the same number of days as the current month.

What I originally said was this
I worked with an engineer (quite a high-up guy to boot) that was so frugal, and so uncaring, that he used the same calendar over and over. He would just put it on a month where the days lined-up correctly, and leave it.
Same calendar means he got a free Dunkin Donuts calendar in 1984, and just used it every year after.

At least that it obviously a glitch.

Gemini was having a particularly bad day with me today. It told me there was a Phish show tonight and that it was in Noblesville, Indiana and that city was central time.

They had a show last night in Columbus. Their next show is tomorrow in SC and Noblesville and I are both eastern time.

Several AI engines provided information that the island of Cape Breton, NS was 12 minutes ahead of Atlantic Time. Of course, the island is on Atlantic time but a satire paper in Canada (The Beaverton) posted an article stating that the island had it's own timezone and several AI engines have been using that article as fact. I think gemini was one of them.

For this week's WAI, I google'd "Radio shows that launched in the 1960s". Get a load of this AI result:

AI Overview
Several popular radio shows launched in the 1960s, including both entertainment and news programs. Notable examples include "Gunsmoke," "The Credibility Gap," "Monitor," and
"The Sean Hannity Show."

Perhaps AI is getting data from the wrong timeline. Perhaps from one where the robots of the future have already come back and killed John Conner.

I asked Google AI about "factual errors on the World Wide Web": "The World Wide Web, despite its vastness, is susceptible to factual errors. These can arise from misinformation (unintentional inaccuracies) or disinformation (intentional falsehoods). While the sheer volume of information can lead to a sense of 'rightness in the aggregate,' individual pages can contain errors and the lack of centralized control allows for the spread of misinformation."

So all we need is "centralized control" of the World Wide Web. Any volunteers?

Just for giggles I asked ChatGPT about Howard Stern's tenure on Denver Radio, it said he was on KRFX (103.5 The Fox) for 5 years when he was actually on KXPK (96.5 The Peak) for what turned out to be less than one year ( was removed shortly after the Columbine comments and KXPK eventually changed format from Adult Alternative to All 80's.
