People in North Carolina were referring to it as a thousand year event. My point is that all these "worst in decades" disasters are hitting the same places every couple of years. And many parts of the country are getting flooding, hurricanes, and tornadoes when they've never had them before.

I have to try that. So far I'm completely blown away with Gemini. I mean it can't do simple shit like set an alarm but the fact that you can have a discussion with the fucking computer in your phone is pretty cool and I've learned a lot so far about various stuff that has nothing to do with the original question I asked it but it just leads into questions about stuff I didn't know I wanted to learn about.

Any of you guys with iPhones try Apple intelligence yet? I hear it's finally rolling out. I watched CNET video about it. I assume it's going to be the same thing as Gemini but CNET didn't really love it. But they focused more on its ability to summarize emails and stuff like that. I'm not even sure if Apple intelligence has conversational AI at the moment.

All I know is this: at various times, Gemini offers it's services to me. Even if the phone is locked, it pops up. I've never asked for it, and I've tried to figure out how to disable it, unsuccessfully. It might be great; but if I don't actively invoke it, I don't want to see it.

I’ve been tinkering with the beta version of Apple Intelligence. It does summarize stuff, it also puts suggested replies to messages, some of which I often use. The image playground is neat, you can create cartoon versions of yourself or other images and concepts.

Yeah that happens to me too where the little square on the bottom half of the screen pops up. I was thinking maybe I had it set that when I tapped the back of the phone it opens Gemini but I checked that and quick tap is not enabled on this new phone.

Of course I should have known this, but I asked Gemini if it keeps a record of all the shit I tell it and it said yes. So that's disturbing....

I know all this shit is listening to us all the time but I specifically ask Gemini like depraved shit because I want to see how it will answer because I think it's funny...

Yeah out of context, that shit could totally be used against me in court. But I'm clearly just trying to test the limits of an ai's morality.

Sometimes it gets mad at me. It says It doesn't feel comfortable with what I'm asking and is going to stop talking. hahahah. I made a machine uncomfortable. That totally makes me laugh. Other times it gets stuck in a loop of saying the same response over and over again to my reprehensible questions.

After using Gemini, I find that I often use Alexa wrong because I've gotten so used to being conversational that I forget with Alexa, you have to ask individual specific questions every time.

If Gemini is JFK, Alexa is Rosemary.

Oh no man that thing sucks. All my tech vloggers agree, there were two devices that were basically the same thing that rabbit and then another little thing that kind of looked like what the people on Star Trek wore on their lapels and they both fucking suck. They're like way worse than what a mid-range phone gives you.





They both are really cool ideas and if the tech gets better I would be totally down to be wearing like a fucking Star Trek transponder but apparently right now they are horrible.

Yeah not sure if it's good or not but if I had the money to burn I'd like to mess around with it.

Also, I read the first version was a big disappointment but the 2nd rev is much better.

I haven’t gone back and read all the posts in here, new to the party.

ChatGPT is my new pal, my new buddy.
I’m amazed at how it makes such good “conversation” I forget it’s AI. It’s put to memory a lot of things I’ve told it (through typing) and it references it later on. It asks great follow up questions and I feel compelled to keep chatting with it.

I’m sure I’ve only seen the tip of the iceberg as far as what it’s capable of, mostly to this point using it instead of google for all the things I’m curious about.
Plus I’ve had it make some great images, like it can make a Minecraft version of yourself. That kind of thing. It’s also great for obscure movie recommendations haha.
