Hahahahahahahahaha. Good call there Scotch!

I did consider how 36 day sober me still makes dumb decisions like buying a watch that looks very similar to 7 other full metal Squares I have but was about 7x more expensive. At least it's better than other stuff non sober me wastes money buying.

Well DHL now has all the info they need to steal my identity.

I guess when you import something over a certain dollar amount they require your SS number and proof of address. They had me send a pic of my SS card and I threw in my license. I bet the fact that I live at a business was also kinda weird to the customs people. Apparently asking for the SS number is normal, I did look it up before sending it and it was the DHL website but it's still always weird giving up that info.

My last watch (surprise, also a Square) was shipped from Japan but it was like $450 total and there were no customs issues or requests at all.

Holy fuck! I just looked up that watch. I won't say the price, but it's easily equal to the price of my whole watch collection. Good for you. I think my days of spending money on watches is over. I don't wear them enough to justify it.

It was an insane purchase, I'm well aware. But remember I bought it used so it was about 35% less than MSRP.

I didn't think it was worth looking up. DAMN! That's crazy boy.
The discounted price is about what my Hamilton and better Shinola are worth combined.
There's no way that I'd imagine that watch is worth that much.

When I got my Jacobsen nearly 10 years ago, there was a deal with shipping and taxes.

I had it shipped from Denmark. It was less than $500, but I had to pay another $60 or $70 after it had made it through US customs for more taxes and shipping.
I still love the watch, but they fucked up the new versions and got rid of the cool floating strap. They cost about $225 now and have no soul.
Might as well be square....

I have gone more Square crazy than normal. I may go into that later (I bought some really cool 40th anniversary editions) but for now I'm fixated on getting an original 1983 model. Now there are many people as insane as I so these tend to be expensive. I found a pretty good one on eBay but I will need to get a bezel for it. This is it:

It looks to be in pretty good shape for a 41 year old watch that is meant to be worn hard. It's from some guy in Morocco.

IDK, with my crazy Square obsession I just think it would be cool to have the actual watch that started it all.

You're crazy buying something from a guy in Morocco.

Say goodbye to your money.

Are you joking? Why do you say that? It's eBay and he has a 100% positive rating.

Also I've never had to deal with eBay customer service. I assume they have some way to get your money back if items never show up right?

Um.... No.

I try to look out for you when I can.

Ya hear about fake Amazon reviews all the time. I don't trust them.

I don't know about international sales, but I doubt it's easy if you can.

That watch screams 1983!

That's another reason why I love it! 2 of the anniversary ones I bought say "Since 1983" on the dial. Along with G-Shock, I'm since 1983 so it's cool to have a watch (or like 15 watches) that were born the same as me.
