I imagine any pet that lives with your wife can expect to have a longer than normal lifespan. From what you've told us, she seems like she's Way more involved than the average pet owner but also not over the line and into the crazy territory like those people she sitted for.
Athena's like a pound or two overweight and I try to limit her to a quarter cup twice a day but it doesn't really seem to do much. Also, when I go to Disney I always leave her like seven full bowls of food and like 10 water dishes because I always consider the possibility that I'm going to get in a crash and die on the highway and I want her to have enough food to survive until someone figures out to go into my apartment. So that always ruins her diet.

Oh wow that's even crazier. Maybe I'm being sexist but you kind of expect women to be a little more over the top with pets than men. So the next logical step would be to go from like a little wacky of keeping a dog and a purse to straight up insane with that list.
When Hendrik died and the inheritance stuff came into play, I made a will on my Aunt Sally and Uncle Paul's recommendation and I split everything 33.3% between my Aunt Sally, my Aunt Kathleen and my Uncle Paul. Anyway, they all made it clear they wouldn't want Athena but I made an agreement with Sally and Paul that they would find Athena an actual home and not let her wind up in any sort of pound. It's not written into the will because I'm not an insane person like that man Scotch's wife dealt with but it was a concern enough for me that I needed them to handshake agree to it for me.

That sounds about right based upon his personality. I am guilty of missing that reference in your post or forgetting it outright.
We did our estate planning earlier this year, and we actually named friends who will take the dogs if we die together in a plane crash. But that has nothing to do with feeding the cats. I guess what I'm saying is that you should have a friend or neighbor or relative with the casual understanding that, if you're dead, they should go check on the cat until such time that your last wishes are honored.
That all makes a lot of sense. I mean Pam would realize something was up within a day honestly within a few hours. How long are you gone this weekend? Both days Saturday and Sunday? Because your cat doesn't really need attention if you're only gone 2 days, but if you have someone willing to do it, it's best to give them some human interaction. I've left Athena alone for I think 4 days before was the maximum, maybe five but I'm pretty sure four and she was just fine when I got back. Also I have Nanny cams everywhere. Basically I bought this four pack of home cameras and so now when I'm not at home I can watch Athena to make sure she's good.
We'll be away for almost 3 days. Our cats need at least a once a day visit, to give them their morning food, water, and enough dry for the day. Twice a day is better, which allows for their dry food to get topped off for the night. Their moist food bowls need to be washed before the next morning's meal. And they won't eat dry food that's been sitting out for a day. Also, the litter boxes need to be done every other day, but we'll be back in time for that. Plus, they aren't used to being alone for days, so they need to see people.
