#30 Type O Negative "Black #1"

"I went looking for trouble. And boy, I found her" Greatest Halloween song ever. The best jokes are delivered with a deadpan expression. These guys were masters. And yes, get immersed in the full 11 minute experience, not just the rip-off 4 minute edit.

#29 Williams Brothers "Can't Cry Hard Enough"

Sometimes lyrics can floor you. These ones do that to me. Especially since this song came out around the same time a friend of mine lost her newborn to SIDS. "....for no reason why"

#27 Tool "Prison Sex"

Many perhaps assume it is, but this has nothing to do with prisons or inmates. It's a very detailed and disturbing look into the mind of a victim that later completes the cycle of abuse, becoming victimizer. You can read the fourth fact at Songfacts, but only if you have the stomach for it.

#26 Indigo Girls "Closer To Fine"

A perfect view of philosophy and religion. They all have some answers, none have all of them. "There's more than one answer to these questions, pointing me in a crooked line."

#25 Korn "Faget"

Jonathon Davis was harassed and bullied, and called the usual hate terms so ubiquitous in jr high & high schools back in the 80s. I didn't have it as bad as some of the stories Davis or Eminem or Chris Rock have told, but I had my share of experiences, so this song speaks to me. Plus this song has not just one but TWO earth-shattering buildups that EXPLODE into some of the best nu-metal mosh parts ever recorded.
