The yellow school bus was always my transportation to and from school until I was 16 and could drive.

My bus carried me along w/the local Catholic school.

I was lucky that my bus would drop me at my driveway. My neighbors got dropped at the end of the street and had to hoof it.

I always walked to school. Public school in Saskatoon was 2 blocks. In Regina, 1 block, high school was 3/4 of a mile (15 minute walk). University was about 5 blocks. My parents were well located. Does that mean I was locationally privileged?

Suddenly Saskatchewan is looking like a pretty fun place to be.

We walked to school everyday without supervision. It was a little over a mile, and it didn't matter if it was raining or snowing.
I think I was probably 7 years old when they quit bothering to have my older brother (9 years old) walk with me.

I remember walking home about 5-6 blocks from kindergarten when I was 5.
When I was 7, 8, 9 years old, the bus dropped me off at my house. I grabbed the key from under the mat and stayed at home alone all afternoon. Or walked to a friends house and hung out there, unsupervised. At 10, I biked downtown to the video arcade, no helmet. Parents had no idea where I was, if I made it there, if I'd made it home. At 11, I woke up each Sunday morning and biked downtown to do my paper route in rainstorms, blizzards. Just wandering a neighborhood every week alone. These days you'd be arrested...

Actually, in the 1932 Laurel & Hardy short Me & My Pal, Ollie was getting married and wanted to honeymoon in Saskatchewan. Stan got train tickets to Chicago. He explained, "The man said there was no such place as Squesh, Sus-sus-squash......."

I remember a period in grade school where everyone said "mint". But I never used the word bitchin'; it would just sound stupid.

I wear standard length sport socks, like Pumas, Nikes, or Under Armor. White or gray. I also have black sport socks. I have dress socks, but no use for them at the moment. In the summer, I wear the ones that just show above the sneaker.

Anyone here ever solve a Rubik's Cube?

It's looks near impossible to me, but people on YouTube make it look so easy. They got like toddlers solving them in 2 minutes.

(Question from 1982 minus the youtube part)

My Pet Rock helped me solve mine.
