Wtf is going on with people wearing pajamas? Again and again over the past few days, we kept seeing adults at restaurants, movie theaters, in shopping centers, and generally out and about wearing pajama bottoms.

Is this a Christmas thing? A vacation thing? A millennial thing? Or have we just passed the precipice in the "slippery slope" of society? Do any of you wear pajamas in public?

I don't wear pajamas at all. I haven't seen too much of that here. I would blame the millennials or Gen Z or one of those crazy generations.

Decorum or what’s left of it is disappearing quickly. The pandemic was a game changer, and I think it changed or sped up things that were already happening.

To think there was a time when people attended sporting events in suit and tie.
Now people in the workforce are wearing pajamas.

My sister-in-law works for Delta, and she used to give us non-rev passes for travel. But when we used them, we were representing employees of the airline, and had to dress in business casual to fly. Those days are gone.

I've been saying this for years. I'm right there with you.

The pandemic was a game changer
This was definitely part of it. The farthest back I can trace this PJ thing is seeing nurses wearing their scrubs all day, not just at the hospital. I thought part of the point of scrubs was not taking any germs/bacteria/virus out of the hospital -- like, change out of them before you leave. But laziness, perhaps mixed with that Scrubs TV show in the early 2000s, seems to have changed this.

Before 2000, if I saw someone in PJs at a convenience store, I assumed they'd just crawled out of bed and were too lazy to change to get their coffee, cigarettes and lottery tickets. I looked down on it. But by the 2010s I started seeing PJs at the mall, the grocery store, the library, the coffee/donut shop...

Then I think it was the pandemic and WFH that made the average 35 year old tired mom say fuck it, and join the lazy parade.

Yeah it's weird. And I was super guilty of it. Not pajamas but I would wear basketball shorts and a t-shirt more or less everywhere until Pam told me I looked like a schlub (she says she never said that but she totally said something to that extent) and now I look like a golfer everywhere I go and I wear a polo shirt and khaki shorts. It's not exactly dressy, but it makes me feel better about myself to at least look somewhat presentable these days.

Right on brother sleeping. Naked is the way to go me too. I want you all to be thinking about 270 lb of me sleeping naked all the time now.

I hear you but I'm not so sure if it was the plague or if it was already gone prior.

I do kind of long for the days when people would wear a suit to go on a plane or to a football game or something that like that. There is something cool about dressing up to go out.

Anyone here ever go to a fan expo or a Comic Con? There’s one happening now in New Orleans that I was considering, but decided not to go. The lineup is not bad, most of the Back to the Future cast including Michael J Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson. Also Andy Serkis, Anthony Daniels, William Shatner.

One of my cousins attends these things. Sounds more complicated than just paying an entry fee and seeing the famous humans. Once you get in it cost extra to see the celebrities. Not cool.
Idk maybe one day.

I thought about going to one then I saw the people coming out of one when I was going to baseball game. I decided I would not fit in to one. Haven't thought about it since. And yes, it's a money grab.
