When dates are represented with numbers they can be interpreted in different ways. For example, 01/05/12 could mean January 5, 2012, or May 1, 2012. On an individual level this uncertainty can be very frustrating, in a business context it can be very expensive. Organizing meetings and deliveries, writing contracts and buying airplane tickets can be very difficult when the date is unclear.

ISO 8601 tackles this uncertainty by setting out an internationally agreed way to represent dates:

YYYY-MM-DD

Sure. Tell IRBS he's right. He needs the reassurance.

And who says ISO 8601 is "internationally agreed" upon?

Indian Garden is being renamed Havasupai Gardens:

But the National Park Service website still has a page for the "Havasupai Indian Reservation." Go figure!

In the 1950s and '60s, many comic strips were highly detailed. Among them: Pogo, Tarzan, Rip Kirby, Rusty Riley, Brick Bradford, Flash Gordon, Steve Canyon, Alley Oop, Prince Valiant, Roy Rogers, Dick Tracy, Ella Cinders, Li'l Abner, Little Orphan Annie, Secret Agent X-9, The Lone Ranger, The Katzenjammer Kids and Terry & The Pirates.

Most daily newspapers had two pages of comics – but in the 2000s, as newspaper readership started declining and the cost of newsprint started rising, many newspapers eliminated one of the comics pages and shrunk the size of the strips so they could cram more of them onto a page. The daily Los Angeles Times comics page has 22 strips! Because strips are now printed so tiny, few artists draw with a lot of detail anymore.

I think we have a money thread but I can't find it. Anyway I'm trying to start saving hard core these days. I'm back to writing down everything I spend all day. I find that makes it much easier to cut back on needless things. Anyways I've managed to spend exactly $0 over the past 3 days and that makes me happy. I will make that 4 today but then I'll have to buy some groceries and stuff.

I can see the reason for Wikipedia not allowing people to edit their own pages. They could delete any negative information and add several false stories to make themselves appear to be kind, loving, noble, honorable and saintly. Yeah, Donald Trump, Elon Musk and Herschel Walker, I'm looking at you!

True. A musician that I like, born Scott Albert, goes by the stage name Klayton. At one point he started telling people his name isn't Scott Albert and 'the rumors' that it is his name are untrue. On his Wiki page, his birth name kept disappearing, then re-appearing. I ended up in a conversation with someone on the inside:

I thought Klay's talk about his 'legal name' in the latest [video] was a bit odd. In my basement, I have an box with old finances. In it, I have a check I wrote to him for merch back in the mid-90s where he signed the back of it "Scott Albert". He has publicly said he used to personally handle all merch requests. There were three members in his first band Immortal: Scott Albert, Dan Albert and Dan Lemyre. He's got to be one of them. I mean, he was born Scott Albert and his brother is Dan Albert. I'm not sure what his goal is in saying differently - but to those who have known this stuff for 2 decades, it looks bizarre.

I won’t really comment more than yes, his name previously appeared as ‘scott albert’ but it is not legally his name any longer. His legal name literally is Klayton now on his tax returns, driver’s license, etc… So - he’s trying to explicitly remove any occurrence of of the old name/reference.

I knew it was a battle he couldn't win. His birth name is still up on the Wiki page. Here's a note from a 2016 Wiki edit (that obviously didn't last):

02:22, 27 May 2016‎ 82.25.53.146 32,679 bytes −26‎
Klayton confirmed in a YouTube video that his name IS NOT Scott Albert, and that the rumours it is his name, are entirely false.

I don't remember if I've said this or not. The last few days have been blurry.

My vacation started Friday afternoon. No work till Jan 3rd.

I made it out of the house Saturday to buy stuff to make Christmas cookies.

Sunday I woke up with a fever and cough. Slept all day. Took a covid test at night. (Negative)
Slept most of the day Monday.
Slept half of the day yesterday. Took a conference call, but didn't really need to say much. Slept some more.
Slept till noon today.
Feeling better, but not enough to get out of the house.
I still have some Christmas shopping to do for the Mrs.

I know which guy at work it was that got me sick.
He will pay dearly......

Thanks man.
I haven’t had a cold/cough since before Covid times. I think it hit me harder since I haven’t been sick in so long. Getting better, but it’s still lingering. I need to ht the streets for a bit today, but it shouldn’t be too bad.
