T. Rex released Get It On on July 2 1971 in the UK. It was number one for four weeks. In the United States, it was retitled Bang A Gong (Get It On) to avoid confusion with Get It On by Chase., a jazz-rock band led by trumpeter Bill Chase. More than 50 artists have recorded the T. Rex song including Blondie, Gloria Jones, Dwight Twilley, Power Station and Frankie Goes To Hollywood. Here is a 2017 live version by Boy George & Culture Club:

My worst candidate is the one I went with: Power Of Love #29
Someone else guessed Heaven #12
The other person wins with View To A Kill #1 (and so does Hectic)

Here's the correct order of #1s. I only missed one chart-toppa from 4/13 to 10/5!

USA For Africa "We Are The World" #92
Madonna "Crazy For You" #84
Simple Minds "Don't You Forget" #79
Wham "Everything She Wants" #48
Tears For Fears "Everybody Wants" #25
Bryan Adams "Heaven" #12
Phil Collins "Sussudio" #2
Duran Duran "A View To A Kill" #1
Paul Young "Every Time You Go Away" #6

Tears For Fears "Shout" #14
Huey Lewis "Power Of Love" #29
John Parr "Man In Motion" #42
Dire Straits "Money For Nothing" #87

The 10 songs below the 100 from 7/13/1985:

(102) 102. King "Love and Pride" - (entered the chart on July 20, 1985 at #87, peaked at #55)
(101) 103. George Clinton "Double Ooh-Ooh" - (peaked at #101)
(105) 104. Luther Vandross "It's Over Now" - (peaked at #101, #4 R&B)
(RE ) 105. The Force MD's "Itchin' for a Scratch" - (peaked at this position)
(---) 106. Phil Collins "Don't Lose my Number"- (entered the chart on July 20, 1985 at #46, peaked at #4)
(109) 107. Alison Moyet "Love Resurrection" - (entered the chart on July 20, 1985 at #89, peaked at #82)
(---) 108. Jesse Johnson's Revue "I Want my Girl" - (entered the chart on July 20, 1985 at #88, peaked # at 76)
(RE ) 109. The Textones "Midnight Mission" - (peaked at this position)
(---) 110. Russ Ballard "The Fire Still Burns" - (peaked at #105)

Comments:
• "Itchin' for a Scratch was on the chart on 6/22/85. I remember the song from a movie called "Rappin'". The movie was horrible.
• The Textones were on the chart in 6/29/85 and re-charted.
• The lead singer of King sounds like Cher to me. :) I thought that when I heard the song on a UK 80s station.
• Alison Moyet should have had more success in the US.
• Jesse Johnson was a Prince protégé that didn't make too big of a splash.
• I was surprised to see Phil Collins in the bubbles.

Audio:
I decided to try creating a radio show format. I flipped the order to count the songs down and the file can be played from this page. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Listening now. For #109, I'd say more than just "re-entry". I'd have the band name, song name, and position.

Thanks for listening and the feedback. I add this in for the next the show.

I didn't realize the widget embedded in the forum doesn't show tracks listings. I placed a screen capture from my PC and another from my phone below. I wonder if there's something I can tweak.

Textones singer sounded a bit like Chrissie Hynde at first. Both voice and the way she places the syllables.
Interesting.

The lead singer, Carla Olson, had a connection to the Go-Go's. She sang on the original version of "Vacation".

7 for 1988. Brutal countdown.

I tuned it in breify once this weekend and heard these songs:
32: SIMPLY IRRESISTABLE - ROBERT PALMER
31: THE VALLEY ROAD - BRUCE HORNSBY & THE RANGE
and thought maybe 1988 isn't as bad as I remember it. Well it is and I am glad I missed the rest of the countdown.
