Adventures In Koopland

Poor little Athena is all drugged up and lethargic now that she is back home. I have to give her a liquid painkiller every 12 hours. She barely eats and I haven't seen her drink all day. I may need to squirt some water in her mouth if this keeps up.

She looks so pathetic:

They told me to take pics of her abscess and send it to them if it gets worse. They also said I should be able to see improvement in 3 or 4 days. An anal gland abscess is freaking gross. It looks like a small bullet wound. I feel so bad for the little kitty. It's no wonder she was acting all weird and not using the box, it must be so painful and even worse if cat litter gets in it.

If ya want a treat check out these sweet, sweet abscess pics:

She will get better if for no other reason as to bite your face off for putting that cone on her head.

I finished the Metro Traffic School class a few months ago and just today I had my exit interview for the counseling sessions I was required to take. There were 12 classes (1 per week) plus the 3 minute interview today. They told me to wait a week for the paperwork to go through but then I should be able to get my license back. Seeing how everything so far has been super annoying, I am expecting that there will be some other stuff the DMV tells me to do before I get it back but even if that is the case I now have 2 big parts of my sentence all finished!

Good stuff. It's fun to drive. Hopefully you won't lose that privilege again

I've talked about it before but I have this (maybe misguided) dream of taking a few months and living in one of those fancy Mercedes vans. Now the one I want is super expensive so that's not going to happen. And of course I need my license back. My dad has stopped driving and he has a 03 Ford Windstar with only 55k miles. He told me he's fine with me taking out the seats and making it into a camper. Since my mom was in a wheelchair the back seats are already out. I'd still need to take out the middle seats and the wheelchair lift. The lift wasn't one of the big ones, it was a crane lift that should be easy to uninstall. I've watched a ton of videos of people who do exactly what I'm thinking. Most of them are hipsters who are technically homeless but play it off like they love living in their van. Some of them manage to make really nice setups with seemingly very few major alterations.

Now I haven't gone completely crazy. I'm not going to sell my condo and be a van liver. I've just been thinking about it lately because I plan on getting my license back soon. I think it would be cool to have it all setup with a sleeping area, chair, curtains, extra power supply and storage areas both in the van itself and one of those topper hollow shell things you put on the roof. What's likely to happen is I will spend a bunch of money and time setting all this up and then only use it once or twice a year. Either way it seems like a fun project that I think I'm going to start very soon.

My dad doesn't drive anymore but he still keeps his license/insurance/registration up to date because it makes him feel better to know he could legally drive if he wanted to. So basically for peace of mind alone he is paying Geico $600 every 6 months. Today he asked me to see if he could change it to a 3 month plan cause he thinks he may die within the next 6 months. I called and they said no. He can split the $600 payment into 2 payments a few months apart but there is a $4.30 fee for doing that. They refused to waive that fee. This really made me mad and now I got him a cheaper 6 month quote with both State Farm and Progressive, closer to $500 per 6 months. So I'm going to switch him over to one of those tomorrow. All over the refusal to waive a freaking $4.30 fee. I wouldn't have even thought to find other quotes if they didn't piss me off. It will make me happy to call Geico back and tell them I am canceling his plan over such a nominal fee.

Well the Koopland thread will be all about Koop Sr. for the next few days. I'm spending most of the week with him since it's his 90th birthday on Sunday.

On Saturday he asked me to email a letter to the editor of the Sun Sentinel. He gave me what he wrote and I changed it a bit and edited it down to the 150 word limit. Today it made its way into the paper. He's getting lots of calls from all the old ladies who read it and want to congratulate him.

The bastards changed my headline. I wrote it as "Staff Shine in Face of Adversity".
