.....and weed heads have to go out of state to score their junk

Another article that lies. Here's the truth: the state liquor commission has NH politicians in their back pocket. If an overwhelming percent of residents want it to be legal, then they're not worried about the children; so why should the politicians?

Notably missing ..... New "Live Free Or Die (Of Carbon Monoxide Poisoning)" Hampshire
New Hampshire -- where the rest of America goes to buy their new less expensive gas car.
This is an interesting thought, as much of Europe is going electric too. I'd assume Japan and S. Korea also. So what about the rest of the world? Are the car manufacturers going to continue making gas-powered cars for a small percent of the world market? Can I buy a gas car in NH and register it in Maine? What will this do to the used car market? Will people go to extreme lengths to keep their old cars on the road?

Canada has announced 2035 as well. But I don't see how they can achieve that without actually enhancing the electrical grid by adding power plants (high capacity ones like nuclear) and adding a whole bunch of charging stations. All talk without those first steps at investment. I would say the same with California. I am sure in 2030 it will be extended to 2045. then 2055 in 2040 etc.

And where is the power coming from for all those battery recharging stations? Please don't say gas....

Electric vehicle (EV) owners are often under the impression that they are “saving the earth” by using electricity instead of gas to power their car. What many do not realize, however, is that the source providing electricity to their charging station is most likely a fossil fuel.

What's Charging the Charging Station?

This sounds like something Bill Maher would say. I bet the number of EV owners who don't know where their electric power comes from is right near zero. Anyone with the resources to pony-up for an electric vehicle probably has enough brain cells to know that electricity doesn't just come from electricity, or 100% solar, or 100% hydro.

The fact is that charging from the grid is about 5 times as efficient as running a gas engine.

That being said, I was talking to someone who brought up a good point. In order to have widespread usage of EVs, people in apartment complexes will need a way to individually charge. Not sure how that's going to work.

Aside from the expense, that is my #1 reason to not consider it. I have no way to charge. And if I do get some sort of pay charge station, how to make sure someone else doesn't hijack my charge?

In the early days of EV charging, there were stories about people living in places with underground parking, and they'd just plug an extension cord into any available outlet in the garage. Which means the management company is paying.

We have a charging station in our garage at work. And each user has an account, so they'd have to do it that way.

They have a couple of those (not close to my car of course) but I am sure it would be 'corrected' once used. Also don't modern EVs require 220 V charging?

The 110v vs. 220v charging options is one of the reasons I’m more inclined to go with a plug-in hybrid. I don’t want to upgrade my electric service just to get 220 out to the garage.

Cut out of work a bit early the other day, and took my gas-powered car to our local beach. The permit lot was full, except for 1 space that just opened-up. I noticed they added a sign to the spot.

Reserved just for you!
So with convertibles, I’ve always wondered, how often do you have to clean bird crap off of your interior?

I've never cleaned bird crap off my interior. It's been on my back deck a couple of times. That's not to say that it's never landed inside the car, but not that I've noticed.

Mostly, bird crap hits your windshield when you're driving. I rarely see bird crap anywhere on my car from being parked somewhere, and the odds of it being on the interior are about half that. There's this fascination that non-convertible people have about birds crapping in open convertibles, as if that somehow attracts birds. When you see cars with bird crap all over them, it's from being parked outside of a garage, in a bird-prone space.

I've parked under trees and gotten a bunch of pine needles in the car. But that's not a good idea for any car, because of the pine sap. And a couple of times, many years ago, I left plastic-bodied cigar lighters in my center console, on sunny days. And at a certain time, sunlight would bounce off the metal shift-knob trim in such a way that it made the butane reservoir boil. They never exploded, but they just about doubled in size (and stopped working).

I figure that birds know when I've gotten my car washed, so they must also know how to spot a convertible with the top down.
:car2:
Birds hit my car on occasion. In the middle of parking lots (no trees) too. I think it's pretty clear scotch is in league with the birds. For what purpose, I do not know.
