It sort of true. If I had my choice. I wouldn't be living in Arizona. I would probably still be living in Houston. But the humidity would be brutal. I rather be living in a warmer climate, with not so much snow. Probably in San Diego, I'm not much of a fan or California. Wouldn't mind visiting, bit not living there. Sorry Channel98.

I hear ya man. I live in the literal only tropical climate in the whole continental USA and it started out as a swamp.

We only have 2 seasons, wet and dry. (Which is oddly similar to my life with Pam. Half the year I make it downpour with how happy I make her. The other half it's the Sahara Desert with how mad she is at me about whatever.)

I've long considered retiring somewhere between DC and Atlanta, like the Carolinas. The weather seems ideal. 1-6" of snow a year instead of several feet. Summer is slightly warmer than New England, winter is a lot warmer - like here when it's 50 degrees in February we talk about how great it is outside, it's like that most days, not just once in a while.

I just don't want to deal with confederate bible-belt mentality bullshit.

Stick to the urban areas and you should be good. NC is a nice state. We used to visit Atlantic Beach for a week in March most years.

That's exactly what my family would do in Philly. I probably have these drive times wrong since it's been so long but it was about 2 hours to both the beach and the mountains just in opposite directions. It was really nice to see all the leaves changing in the mountains in the fall.

I'll add my thoughts to this. I grew up in NJ, which (in retrospect) is more humid - especially at night - than I'd want to endure, on a year-round basis. I once went to Colonial Williamsburg over Labor Day weekend, and it was brutal. The blacksmiths in their oldy-time garb were having strokes. And that's just Virginia.

So clearly, what I'm suggesting is that the Carolinas would make a good winter place (we have neighbors who go down there). But I'd suggest researching the year-round situation. Not to mention the hurricanes and floods.
