Concerts you have attended?

I effing HATE this. "Hey let's go rock out to Pat Benatar and Lita Ford at the Fidelity Investments Arena". Barfo.

At least Pepsi Center, Coors Field and Busch Stadium and other places like that have a ring to them. Although I think Denver would burn down if someone ever bought the naming rights to Red Rocks.

It's a badge of honor to refer to a place by its original, non-commercial name. Like Great Woods in Mansfield Mass. It became the Tweeter Center, and then Tweeter went bankrupt. I think it's Comcast or Xfinity or some shit now. I will call it Great Woods till the day I die.

Last night concert seeing Rick Springfield, Men At Work and John Waite was fantastic. They performed in a venue, I probably haven't been too in nearly 20 years, the Celebrity Theater which I think sits couple thousand people, the stage rotates and the last row is like 75' from the stage.

My partner and I enjoyed the concert and we didn't knew Rick Springfield was over 70 years old and damn he can still rock it on stage. Even though Rick was the bigger name, I think I probably enjoyed Men at Work more. Probably because I hear their songs more on the radio sometimes.

This may be true by Billboard standards (I don't know), but I'd hope that most people would consider Men at Work to be the bigger name. I guess the concert order indicated otherwise.

And as a side-note, I always have this insatiable urge to repost your comments with the grammar corrected.

Here are your setlists

Only six songs for poor John? With his three incarnations he's had 9 top 40s, but only got to play the two chart-toppers. Hmph!

Babys
#13 "Isn't It Time"
#13 "Every Time I Think of You"
#33 "Back on My Feet Again"

John Waite
#1 "Missing You"
#25 "Every Step of the Way"
#37 "Tears"

Bad English
#1 "When I See You Smile"
#5 "Price Of Love"
#22 "Possession"

We're not starting this crap again.

I’d heard that they put on a good show here on Friday night.
Waite doesn’t interest me, but the other 2 would have been fun to see.

  • Barenaked Ladies w/Gin Blossoms & Toad the Wet Sprocket & Kim Mitchel [08/30 Budweiser Stage, Toronto, ON]

This show was last night. It was a good show. It was not a great show. The music was solid (for me) aside from BNL messing up the lyrics to "If I had $1000000". We did have great seats. Row L to the left. Since the rows are circular as you go to the left rows at the front start disappearing. So we were about 6 rows back but at an angle. But all the groups came over so it was really good seats.

Setlists below in the order of appearance. I liked the bands in the inverse order or appearance but there was not a bad song in the whole lot (for me). My son did not like the show. He basically wanted to hear one song -- then one they messed up. BNL has a video show behind them which was pretty good. About 1/2 the songs BNL did were new songs. The last song (the encore song) was all the bands together doing "Handle With Care". A super group (they called it that) doing a song done by a super group. The did a medley for the last song before the encore and the lead singer became the drummer and the drummer became the lead singer.

This was the final show of the tour. It along with 4 other shows (including Cincinnati -- where they were last night) were resheduled. During one of the breaks, he thanked everybody for their patience as this show was rescheduled 4 times. He mentioned the last was when he got "C-O-V-I-D in Cincinnati" to the tune of WKRP. The "Barenaked Rap" is him just rapping about how great the warm up bands were, etc. Useless fact: Gin Blossoms are from Tempe, AZ. I tried not to hold that against them.

I enjoyed another Jim Beam Red Stag plus another free sample. I convinced my son to try the free sample but he forgot his ID so they could not serve him (he is 21 but could be mistaken still for under 19). They did not check my ID.

I'm surprised your son is not a fan of "One Week". That's a song my kids and their friends would challenge each other to sing.

Yesterday I bought a ticket to a show that I guess is technically a concert. I'm seeing the 1977 Dario Argento horror classic "Suspiria" at the local indie theater. The twist is that the band who did the soundtrack for the movie ( Goblin ) will be performing the score live while the movie plays. And then afterward they're gonna play a bonus set. Should be a fun night.
