Construction

Now that our decks and outside posts have seasoned, we had them stained. The decks are a dark gray-brown, and the posts and awning trusses are clear poly treated. We haven't moved stuff back on the decks yet.

Sweet!

From those pics they really stand out and look great on the garage. The contrasting colors work together since they are all more or less earth tones. Also I like the planters under the garage door windows. Nice touch.

The Mrs does the planters every year. She just started these last weekend, so they haven't really come up yet.

Looks good. The Mrs always says she wants us to do planters, but I know she won't take care of the plants. I know I'm too lazy to take care of them so we'll end up with hanging baskets of dirt within a month.

In other home furnishing news, the Mrs insisted on ordering these chairs to go with our new dining table.

The seat and back are made of something very similar to this

Since we have 2 cats that both like scratching posts, I had to fashion a cover for the seats, when they're not in use

Pretty, eh?

I see your mistake. You said yes to the new dining room table, now you will need new chairs. Maybe new furniture to go with the table. And the walls will no doubt need to be painted. Any time you say yes it's a trap.

I can only say no for so long, and then it becomes less frustrating to just say yes. The upside is that we're not buying anything unless it's the thing we want to keep forever. No interim stuff. So, one by one, I'm checking off things I'll never have to talk about ever again.

And you believe that? Sooner or later she will find that ever better dining room table she must have.

I forgot to point out our "buoy bell".

The bell looks like this up close

It has these bell sound options:

I had to listen to all of these (repeatedly) one night, because we needed to decide which sound to get. It was like selecting among two dozen shades of white paint. Anyway, today has been a breezy day, and the wind has been coming from the particular direction that really sets it off. It goes from whimsical to annoying after a few hours.
