I'm sure it's all bullshit, but there is a difference in the bell tones. Softer, louder, lower, higher, and all sorts of pairings of pitch. I went for "least annoying".

Since I'm off for the week, and we can't go anywhere, guess what I get to do? That's right, home improvement projects.
A few weeks ago (before returning to work), I built shelves for our utility cabinet.
The cabinet is for brooms and ladders, but we have a minimum of kitchen storage, so wasting all that space on almost nothing seemed dumb. I have exactly 2 power tools: a drill and table saw. Plus we have enough extra construction material to build another small house, so I figured out how to add shelves while still allowing brooms to fit.
Mrs. Scotch was very surprised and happy. Jews don't normally use power tools, so it was unexpected. So now I have to build shelves everywhere.
Today I built these in the laundry room (they will get a coat of paint).
This is about all I can do. Hopefully, she'll run out of places to add shelves soon.

This reminds me of the first time we went to Turks & Caicos. We became friends with an older Jewish couple from Long Island. They were very well to do; he had run some investment business, and then became a big philanthropist.This deserves a second:
We were living in NH, and when we mentioned that in the winter, we split cordwood for our woodstove, the guy said - in his best Jackie Mason voice - "You chop wood? With an axe? What are you, Paul Bunyan?"

My dad can build most anything. Knows his way around electrical and plumbing too. Wasn't a career for him, he just picked it up from his old man.
My brother is handy like that too.

Way back when we were buying our house lot, we had to deal with a right-of-way going through the property. When we began the purchase, we thought the ROW was running along the upper boundary (not near the home site), but we were dismayed when we learned that it came way into the lot, and took a curve right in the vicinity of the home site. The 3rd party who owned the ROW wouldn't negotiate with us, he was a real dickhead.
Over time, we referred to the point where the ROW came furthest into the property as Dick-Head Curve, and it happened to be marked by an ugly clump of trees. Here's the lot map, with DHC labeled
Last year, the tree service guys cut down that clump of trees, but there remained a large clump of stumps. Well we just had stump grinder guys take out the remains of the stumps, so now DHC is just an abstract concept in our minds (but still on the property map).

So can dickhead build something in the middle of your property? Or just a road? Or does it just mean he has the right to cross your property on the ROW?
