You guys are wearing me down on Gaucho. I might have to start appreciating it or even liking it.Time Out of Mind - Steely Dan
I was surprised too. They played it on a "70s @ 7" feature they have on a local FM (7 songs from the 70s @ 7). They play a couple songs that are a bit deeper then and this was one of them. It is rather unusual to hear 'new' music on a classic hits station. I have no idea how I missed it. It wasn't on his "Greatest Hits" CD I had either. That's a huge song for him. It wasn't necessarily one that you would hear on pop-radio, but it's one that surprises me that you hadn't heard.
It must have been on when your roommate was play Horse With No Name.
I agree. I really liked it.It's one of his good ones.
I am not familiar with the last 2. "Young Americans" was #10 but was left off the list in error. All great songs there.
I'd add:
Young Americans
Moonage Daydream
The Man Who Sold the World
I prefer his 70s songs to his 80s songs, but all good.
The Man Who Sold the World was covered by Nirvana in the MTV Unplugged session. They played it on the radio a billion times.I am not familiar with the last 2.
Here to represent the post-80s Bowie!1. Heart's Filthy Lesson
2. I'm Afraid Of Americans
3. Ashes To Ashes
4. Lazarus
5. Fame '90
I used to really like "Let's Dance". But it has to be the most overplayed song of his even today and I am finding myself danced out. Here to represent the post-80s Bowie!
#1 #2 and #4 are 1995, 1997 and 2015. My #6 song is probably "Killing A Little Time" which was released a year after his death in 2017.
I'm also a pre-"Let's Dance" fan of Bowie's 80s work like "Ashes To Ashes", "Under Pressure" (I didn't include this on my list, but it would be #1) and the somewhat shmaltzy but classic "Little Drummer Boy" w/ Bing.
I like some of his classic 70s songs too, but not as much as the above.
Still do.The Man Who Sold the World was covered by Nirvana in the MTV Unplugged session. They played it on the radio a billion times.
LOL! From now on, I'm changing this lyric to "Let's not!" when it comes onI am finding myself danced out.
