You guys know anything about Christopher Ward?

It's a British brand. They have this dune c65 watch that really looks cool. I've seen them before but haven't cared until the c65

Problem being my watch guys aren't talking about it. Only my ancillary watch channels are talking about it.... And if they're not the ones I watch on a weekly basis then I worry they might be bought and paid for by the brand and just not admitting it like they're supposed to. Yet from just a little bit of research they seem very legit and maybe my watch guys just don't get samples and that's why they don't feature the brand.

Anyway, this looks like a pretty cool watch. Check it out.

Also, it's a chronometer. I'm a fancy boy now that I have my Tudor so I need my automatics to be chronometer certified. Hahaha. It is freaking cool though...to have automatics that only lose like 2 seconds a day if that.

Besides your tag, I don't remember anything else you have that's cool. Sorry you had to catch shrapnel there... That's hectic's fault. Blame him. I'm sure you have cool watches. Oh!!! I'm pretty sure you have a Seiko Pepsi diver that you showed us and that's really cool.
I have one of these on blue leather

The black Hamilton chrono is the only watch I have that adjusts the date by clicking the hour-hand 1 hour at a time. Which makes it perfect for going in and out of DST without having to readjust the minute-hand. And to be honest, I bought it after seeing Robin Williams on Letterman. He was wearing (I'm guessing) either an IWC Pilot "Top-Gun" chrono, or a Bell & Ross BR03 chrono, in anodized black.

Anyway, it looked super-cool, and I didn't have anything like it already. The Hamilton was one-tenth or one-twentieth the price of those.

BTW, while I was putting together the post about this Seiko 6139, I noticed that on eBay, they're going for anywhere from $500 to $1,200 or so. I paid something like $120 for mine, also from eBay.

1738878600311.png

It was NOS (new old-stock), so it's in perfect "like-new" condition. It came with an original stainless bracelet, which I replaced with a nice stitched blue leather strap (I still have the bracelet). I'm not sure if NOS watches aren't worth the same as original ones, but it's the same damned parts. In any case, I'll be holding on to mine.

I'm not sure if you showed me this first or after I bought my skx009 Pepsi diver but that is one of my watches that will always be with me. Along with the first automatic I ever bought that was like 60 bucks.... A little Seiko field watch and my squares.

The skx is out of production now. I believe I bought it for $200 or so. And according to eBay I didn't look at the sold listings but the active listings all have it for around $350.

Not as great a profit as yours, but unless you're buying Rolex or above, most watches do not appreciate at all.

Anyway, what was everybody's first automatic?

This is my first watch. The one that started this whole freaking thing. God I love that little guy. And look what it goes for now because it's discontinued..... I was just guessing in the post above but I was dead on...I bought it for $59.

That watch will never leave the collection.

Matter of fact I need to wear it more often. I haven't worn it in way too long.

Many years ago, Mrs. Scotch was celebrating a promotion I got at work. She compelled me to buy the watch I wanted. I was trying to get a Tag Heuer Formula 1, which is a sporty quartz watch, by bidding on eBay. I wasn't having any luck winning the bids, so she took me to Macy's, where I could buy a nice watch from a jeweler, like a real, upstanding citizen.

We saw the Formula 1, but she suggested I look at the nicer automatic models. That's when I got this
acquaracer_wab2010_300 m_8845_9.jpg

After that, I got hooked on automatic watches.

That's a fucking sweet tag but that's not what this story is about.

This is the fairy tale of Mrs. Scotch being like your Disney princess who takes you and pushes you to do what you wanted to do in the first place and just makes you a happier person and makes you love her more.

Pam does that shit for me. I need to make sure she gets the pantry window that she deserves the way you did Scotch.

This is a DRC love story.

Well, yes and no. In marriage, there's a thing called "quid pro quo". If she supports me in going for that nice watch, then when it's her turn, I can't say no. A short time later, she dragged me to Barmakian's Jewelers in Nashua NH (the Disneyworld of bling) for an expensive necklace. She's also used this tactic to get nice handbags too.

quid pro quo

If that's what you guys are into then both parties are pleasing one another and I can't see any fault either way.

when it's her turn, I can't say no.

Um.......yeah...... When it's her turn it usually winds up being something I'm super into that I didn't even know I was into and then all of a sudden it becomes part of our repertoire and I'm super happy she brought it up in the first place because it's incredibly hot and it makes both of us....... You know inappropriate words that I won't elaborate upon.

For a buck twenty? Hells yes. I'd snap one of those up for sure.

Exactly. Once the precedence has been established, there's no going back.

This might be a joke I don't understand but you're not serious right? Because you posted a lot about cool watches you have, none of them are automatic?
There's not much of a punchline to a joke like that.

It's like waiting for a punchline to a joke about not having any grey dishtowels.

So hectic. You do not have one automatic watch?

It's a very straightforward question.
