Page 2 doesn't seem as bad. My dog also expects certain things at certain times and will be extremely vocal if one is tardy with them. I do mention and provide them with the sitter when she is there.

I think the part about the stuffed toys alone is sickeningly obvious and mostly unnecessary. The rest of it is because the guy just likes to pontificate. Anyone he puts in care of his precious pet knows all this stuff already.

So very not worth it. I would not take that job for $1000.
Then you certainly wouldn't take it for less than $500.

But here's the thing. The dog simply joins our family of 2 dogs, and Mrs. Scotch gets a 50% bonus for the week, while she does her regular job. The dog either sits in the house with our dogs, gets fed with our dogs, goes out with our dogs, or goes on a hike with our dogs. It's basically free money. Plus it provides entertainment for us (DRC).

You are correct. I was looking at this from the point of view of a first contact.

Breaking News!!

Mrs. Scotch revealed that the owners made their own mix of kale and garlic as an after dinner joint-aid, and put them in these individualized daily containers

It's down-right foolproof!

I've been told that since they spent so much time on these instructions, they cranked out a ton of copies, and they hand them to whoever deals with the dog; whether experienced or not.
If he has to have mass produced instructions, he is probably spending too much time away from home to properly appreciate a dog.

I try not to get too involved with the wife's business, so I don't know exactly what's going on. But they're retired, and it seems that whenever they go away for a full day or more, we get the dog. So I don't think they're being boarded anywhere else.

However, they may have someone who takes the dog for walks on a regular basis. In fact, we were walking her on the beach, and someone called out her name, and then Mrs. Scotch knew the person. So I think that was the walker. And there may be a neighbor who might occasionally let her out. And perhaps one copy is for the groomer, or the vet. Or a previous boarding place. Who knows?

It's like one of those parents who has a full staff to take care of their kids, and the kids are these random people they see a few times a week for an hour or so. I wonder how much time they actually enjoy the dog's company versus the amount of time other people are with them.

Gemini told me that that indoor cats generally live 12 to 18 years.

Athena is 15.

That makes me worried.

I'm not going to be all broken up when she dies or whatever. She's a cat. You know, cats die, but I'm very opposed to her dying.

I had one live 19 years but he started out an outdoor cat.

Tom was 16 and we don't even know that for sure. That was the vet's estimate because he also started out being an outdoor cat.

And then one day he was just sleeping in a drawer like he always did and I went to pet him and he was dead.

So that kind of sucked.

But at least he went in his sleep.

My 20 year old arrived at our door (8th floor apartment) and we estimated he was 1 year old. If he was older, he is older than 20.

My wife had a cat. It's a long story which has 2 parts that are hard to think about without getting choked up, not something I'm ready to do at work. Plot twist: it has almost nothing to do with the cat that gets me choked up, he's a minor character in the film. Spoiler alert: It dies at the end.

Okay, I think I'm just repeating your post here, but you have a 20-year-old cat that you originally got when it's somehow climbed eight flights of stairs and just was hanging out at your door?

And it's still alive right now, this is your current cat?

That's a wild and very cool story.

I got Athena because a friend of a friend had a litter and my buddy brought her over in a box and now here we are 15 years later.

Yes although he likely used the elevator and likely was abandoned by someone else in the building. I did see him earlier on the elevator and perhaps he followed me. They say cats pick their people.

That looks like a dog who went a fancy dog salon, not Pets Mart for a haircut.
