I had this moment of serendipity last night. We attended a local charity Soup Supper at this function hall. All these restaurants and cooks serve soups, stews, and chilis, and there's also breads and cookies. Plus a full bar. And live music.

I had an Italian wedding soup with sausage, a mulligatawny (creamy chicken with curry), and a turkey chili. Of course, I mentioned to Mrs. Scotch that mulligatawny was one of the soups from that Seinfeld episode (I think George ordered it).

We got home in time to catch Jeopardy. And at the beginning of double jeopardy, this was one of the questions:

And guess what the answer was?

I remember that episode pretty well, but could never come up with mulligatawny either at gunpoint or looking at a menu at an Indian restaurant.
There's about a dozen tables, each with 3 to 6 crockpots or tureens. Every one is labeled, or has a description card in front. So you just peruse and decide. I picked the mulligatawny as soon as I saw the name. Other soups from that episode were jambalaya (Kramer) and mushroom bisque (Jerry), I think. Or was it Newman?

Eat it on the hood of your car. Mulligatawny Kitaen.
Now THERE'S an '80s reference.

Youtube tv just took ABC and ESPN off the service, because of a dispute with Disney. Fortunately, we're heading to visit relatives in NY. Also, there's no F1 race this weekend. But I won't be able to record jeopardy.

What the fuck?
We canceled our cable and got YouTube TV because they still had ABC & FX.
Sonsabitches!

:pullhair:
I know; I figured it would get to the last minute, and then they'd make a deal. I didn't think the 3rd largest content provider (and #1 non-cable one) would allow this to happen.

Anyway, step #1: I can watch Jeopardy on Hulu (which we were about to cancel because Only Murders is done). But I'm looking at all options.

Typo on my part.
We canceled cable because they got rid on NBC and a bunch of other channels we watch.
We don't watch much more than Kimmel on ABC, But we watch FX and a number of the other channel YT just lost.
Unlike my old cable provider, at least YT is offering to discount my bill.

Today's episode featured a contestant who was likely in his 80s, late 70s at minimum. Good for him. My brain is noticeably slower at 49 than it used to be.
There was a woman a few weeks ago who was around that age too. It's impressive. That was part of the charm of that professor, Sam Buttrey.

In yet another weird twist in the jeopardy watching saga, I found that Peacock carries Jeopardy. I have no idea why, as Peacock is a repository for NBC programs; and Jeopardy airs on ABC. But nothing really makes sense anymore.

In any case, we just canceled Hulu, as we no longer need it.

I thought Jeopady was syndicated to whichever local station in each market wants it not necessarily ABC stations.

We're both right. Jeopardy was broadcast on ABC for decades, and is still run on ABC affiliates in the major markets. But recent syndication deals have put it on other affiliates in smaller markets around the country. That includes NBC in many places, so Peacock is carrying it on their service. Which is good for me.
