Ehh, Rocktober is overdone on every radio station. It's the Wal-Mart of cheesy, corny and obvious promotions.

At least Cocktober hearkens back to Howard's old act. OTOH, if Cocktober is so cringe-worthy, maybe it's a good thing he does PG-rated interviews. Do we really need to know about Mick Jagger's penis size or how many groupies he's banged? There's a few times I wish he still used the Robospanker and Sybian, but I'm sure that also means we'd get people calling in saying how awesome the video is...but since it's all on the app now and no HowardTV...or maybe HTV could still exist as an unedited version. But if it's censored on the app, then that's probably good enough for most.

Remember when they'd take weeks off and do themed weeks? They'd have George Takei do "Gayest Week Ever" and then Scott Ferrall would do "Fight Week" a few months later.

Well, I'm not saying they're off next week, but they've been off in previous Octobers and they just played a promo for Grossest Week Ever.

Agreed. It was so much better when they'd do things like Master Tape Theatre, "Fight Week" or "Dracula Gottfried Meets The Wack Pack" or whatever the theme was.

While it was a new thing for Howard to have Fridays off, at least we had other live programming when he was on vacation. There was once when Bubba took five days off over two weeks, so we wouldn't have to suffer through a whole week of tapes.

The recent mindset has been "newer stuff on 100 and older/random stuff on 101."

He's had two. The one yesterday was from a while ago since they're off this week.

I believe there was one last week which was new, albeit a bit delayed since it seemed like they hadn't had time to get to it.

I can easily hear this in my mind:

"This is George Takei. What...the fuck is that asshole Bill Shatner doing in Jeff Bezos' penis rocket? Especially in Cocktober! Is he closeted or something? It should be me in a huge penis! This...is the Howard Stern Show!"

Too bad the rocket is white and not black. The "I love black wang" drop is RIGHT THERE AND OBVIOUS.

I started listening when Howard was 43. He's now 67.

It's hard to believe I've been listening for (I think) approximately 1/3 of his life, although I didn't listen much between 2011-2015. I can also understand why the haters are upset at him for shifting his show. I believe his oldest daughter is pushing 40. When Howard was 40? It was right around the time when he has just dumped Billy West. Jackie was endlessly pimping his website and Howard was throwing baloney. One of the Wack Packers went by the name of Joe Cancer. Eric the Actor was still several years in the future.

I started listening to the time-delayed rebroadcast of the K Rock show on WBCN Boston in 1984. That's 37 years ago; he was 30. Maybe that's why I often feel like I've had my fill of him.

BCN started rebroadcasting Stern in '84? Wow I had no idea! I first heard Stern's BCN rebroadcasts in 1995. It aired in the evening if I remember right. That's when I started listening. I remember when they replaced their very long-running morning show "Big Mattress" with Stern. I want to say it was maybe '97?

Apparently my mistake. I started listening to BCN in 84. And my hazy memory was that he was on there. I had listened to him when I was in metro NYC. So I really have listened to him for a long time. I just didn't remember the gap in time.
