Next year's class:

Nickelback
Whitney Houston
The Spice Girls
Smash Mouth
Britney Spears
N*SYNC

;)
I would totally approve that list, but not much on N*SYNC. More of a fan of Backstreet Boys.

I actually think Nickelback will make it at some point, they've sold too many records not to.

That's bullshit. Ya paid for the ticket, why be a dick?
If you don't like a band just talk to your friends and ignore them.
A dead arena has to suck.

I'm seeing that the 2023 induction ceremony was held yesterday. Normally, that doesn't mean anything, because it airs at a later date on HBO. But I'm reading that it aired live on Disney+, and the only other airing will be a highlight show on ABC on Jan 1. So basically, it's over and I missed it.

Looks like Disney+ has the option to watch the replay as well, but it’s 4 and a half hours. I think I’ll pass.
Even though they are dead to me, I'll prolly watch the ceremony. They are usually pretty good with the bands playing. The jam session they used to do at the end was fun, but I don't think they do it anymore.

I saw that the induction ceremony was being broadcast on regular TV last night, so I watched. It was mostly good, and I don't have any profound feelings about it, so here are just a few observations.

Sheryl Crow was good as both a recipient and performer, but it seemed odd she appeared so many times. However, in one of those appearances, she performed "If It Makes You Happy" with other notable musicians, including Peter Frampton. He was chair-bound, but he did great solo guitar work on the song.

Jimmy Page made what was described as a surprise guest appearance, to play the classic Rumble by Link Wray. Page did a good job of it, and he used his famed double-necked Gibson; although it seemed odd that he only used one (12-string) neck.

New Edition did a surprisingly good medley of Spinners songs, including one that recreated the Soul Train TV show set.

The Willie Nelson segment was good. He performed himself, and at 90, he could still play and sing. Other musicians, including Dave Matthews, covered his music.

Interesting: Tom Morello was the sole member of RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE who attended the band's Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony last night
I guess Morello is a long-time member of the RRHOF committee, so no surprise he showed-up. But he made a nice speech, and made it sound like he was respecting the fans by being there. Other than a video history of the band, there were no performances of their music.

Other than that, nothing really stood out, aside from the fact that every performer over 50 was using some degree of auto-tune.

I watched the Morello bit and half watched the rest while I was doing my Sunday evening chores.
Tom seemed pretty clear to me that the other guys don't really care for award shows (and probably the HOF) and that while that's cool, he was there for the fans. He kept banging the Rage drum for being against the machine, so I think he used his platform in a way that the rest of the band could appreciate.

Of those 15 nominees, I think Cher, Mariah Carey, Ozzy Osbourne, Foreigner and Kool & The Gang are the most likely to be inducted. And who knows? If I live long enough, I may see Barry White, Billy Idol, Connie Francis, Diana Ross, Dick Dale, Jim Croce, Cyndi Lauper, War, Bad Company, Jethro Tull, Jan & Dean, Peter Paul & Mary, Steppenwolf, INXS, Iron Maiden, Mötley Crüe, Procol Harum, Three Dog Night, the B-52's, the Commodores, the Marvelettes, the Monkees, the Pointer Sisters and Tommy James & the Shondells finally get inducted.

Can't believe they're not already in:
Cher
Kool & the Gang
Ozzy Osbourne
Foreigner

Probably should be in:
Peter Frampton
Lenny Kravitz
Jane’s Addiction
Dave Matthews Band

Not rock but since it's also the pop/r&b/hip-hop HOF, ok:
Mariah Carey
Sade
A Tribe Called Quest

No preference:
Sinéad O’Connor
Eric B. & Rakim

No:
Oasis
Mary J. Blige
